My Body Proud Journey - 25 Years In Pictures - 103lbs to FAME Pro!
Hey Everyone,
After the amazing Body Proud Showcase last weekend, I wanted to follow up and post some pictures from my Body Proud journey over the past 3 decades. This year is the 25th anniversary of the year that I began training. 25 Years of being Body Proud! I begain training in 1984 and have been consistently training ever since!
Over the past 25 years I have had many different goals for my own training. In the beginning my only goal was to get bigger so I wasn't the smallest kid in school! As I started to make progress I began competing in Bodybuilding, and then switched to Power Lifting for many years. Eventually, as natural bodybuilding grew in popularity, I returned to Bodybuilding competition and and eventually earned my Natural Pro Card with FAME.
Over the past 25 years I have been involved with the Fitness industry as a competitor, sponsored athlete, contest promoter, supplement company executive, writer, nutritionist, and trainer. Because of Bodybuilding I have had wonderful opportunities to travel around the world, and work side by side with some of the most famous names in the Fitness Industry. By far, the thing I love most is helping other athletes reach their true potential on stage. With more than 20 years experience as a nutritionist and contest prep coach, there is nothing I love more than seeing competitors reaching their goals and shining on stage.
I have had some setbacks along the way, including my full pec tear in 2005 which still affects me to this day. Coming back from that injury and adapting my training to deal with it has been difficult at times. However, weight training changed my life and it's been the best thing that I've ever been involved with. The lessons learned from weight training, such as setting goals and working for them, dedication, and discipline have carried over to every other part of my life. Bodybuilding does so much more for you than just building your body!
I hope that by posting these pics and sharing some of my story, it will show the guys who start out really small that you CAN make progress. I am the classic ectomorph, and although I'll never be the biggest guy on stage, or even the biggest guy in my own gym, I'm proud of the results I was able to achieve naturally, and I'm still going at 40!
If you're a small guy, or anyone who feels that they'll never achieve their goals, take a look at these pics and hopefully they will encourage you. At the very least you'll have a good laugh at the crazy clothes in the pics over the years!
Thank you to all of you who shared your amazing stories at the Body Proud Showcase. Your stories were truly an inspiration!
