WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! I had a fantastic time meeting so many wonderful people at the FAME Canadian Nationals in Calgary this past weekend! Thank you to everyone who made my experience so thrilling and I really appreciate all the unexpected positive support! Thank you to all the judges for watching me sweat on stage, literally...at one point my eyes were stinging from the sweat rolling into my eyes along with some dream tan...! It was great to be around so many people that could share the experience of working hard to achieve a fitness goal. Already my husband and friend are motivated to get healthy and fit--I mean seriously, we came home from a long twelve hour drive and my hubby and friend were chatting like school girls about how they were going to compete against each other to see who could get fitter, etc...they were doing push ups even...it was ...I don't know what the word is actually, but I'm glad they are motivated! (Of course, I told them they should just enter into a FAME competition, hehe...we'll see if I can convince them!) And even today when I dropped my son off at gymnastics, a lady there heard me say 'FAME' and she started to ask me about getting fit for a show because she had tried to train for a FAME show in the past and got tired of eating chicken (we all know that one!) ...anyhow, I could go on and on about how friends and strangers are motivated by what I've done. What makes me super happy is knowing that I'M ONLY ONE OF MANY people that are out there positively influencing the world to make better, healthier choices and really push to see what the human body and mind can do. And it really is about the mind, not just the body.
Before I go on, I have to give a HUGE THANK YOU TO VERSUS 21 (Perry, Ali, Iman) AND THE BEAUTIFUL JUDY WRIGHT, my personal trainer! She actually surprised me and showed up at the show, traveling by bus even!!! It made me cry and nearly smeared all my caked on make up and fake tan ;0), but well worth it!! In March, I placed second in an acting showcase and I received a free week of classes at Versus 21, in Gastown, (Vancouver) BC. So I walked into Versus and asked for a personal trainer that wouldn't take it easy on me and sure enough they handed me Judy and yep, she doesn't take it easy on me!! Careful what you wish for! But, it's taken me to some wonderful new heights and none of this would be possible without Judy or Versus 21, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! If it weren't for Judy inspiring me and clueing me in on this wonderful sport, I wouldn't be a new FAME PRO today! YAY!
...which leads me to say that I have been bitten by the competition bug and I am looking forward to competing against many of the fun, amazing, hard working people that I met over the weekend and all the new people I have yet to meet! I'm looking forward to Montreal!
Hopefully I'll see some of you at the FAME show in Vancouver next March! Enjoy the training!
Oh by the way, some people asked me about my tan and if you're ever in Calgary, the place I used is called California Tan and they were amazing! You wouldn't believe how friendly the staff is and so helpful too!
