- My BodyPROUD Story
- Originally a native from Toronto for the past 18 years, Nyla made a transition to Vancouver where she found her passion in fitness. Having been athletic and a tomboy (still is) all her life, being fit and staying in great shape come natural for her. She’s talented and athletic in many sports: tennis, basketball, martial arts, swimming and badminton. She excels in everything that she puts her heart and mind into. With virtually no experience in fitness competitions, diets, meal plans, and sewing, Nyla decided to enroll in the Fitness America Pageant in Las Vegas November 2008. Having trained herself and preparing her own meal plans, she transformed her body into a lean, fit and muscular physique in 7 weeks! She immersed herself into reading about preparing meal plans, prepping for competitions and even learning how to sew to make her own bikinis! With one week away from leaving to go to Las Vegas, Nyla made 4 outfits for her shows, while sacrificing the last crucial week to peak out for the show. She placed 7th (top ten) for her first National show and received a great deal of interest and exposure from fitness veterans. She caught the attention of Kendal Wood who invited her to do his show in July in Atlanta Georgia and Robert Kennedy’s attention, who had expressed that she should have placed top 3.
