My Facts 'n Stats:

My name is Nelly. Although I was born in France I have been living in the UK for over 20 years. My family is french so it is a mystery to all of us why my mum picked my first name to be English -LOL :-)

My Background // My 'Story"

I am an only child but come from a very close knit family with my cousins being like sisters and brothers to me.
Although I never did much sport and certainly disliked PE at school, for some bizarre reason it all changed when I turned 18. I practised Thai Boxing for a couple of years which was amazing but eventually stopped as I was the only woman in the club and got fed up getting roughed up by tough men :-) I subsequently took up to going to the gym in my twenties but not on a too serious basis. My objective then was to try and put on some weight as I always was a very skinny child with no real body definition. Anyway many years on I am a super keen fitness fan and also learning heaps about nutrition and clean eating. My objective is to try and look as closely good as the figure and fitness models snapped in Oxygen and on the Body Proud site. I am beginning to see the results that I have yearned for in the last 12 months although it is a work in progress! I joined Body Proud as I am passionate about sport and people who are like minded.
My mum is my closest confidante – she is truly motivational spiritually and supports me in everything I do. ! My philosophy is to be the best I can and give as much respect to others as I wish to receive from them. Purify your soul, body and mind regularly through exercise and treat your body as your temple. Be patient, be consistent and most of all enjoy life!

Timeframe &/or Plan to Reach My Body Proud Goals

I would like to attain a body that feels and reflects the time I am spending in shaping it. I want boundless energy and to keep on feeling prouder of my physical achievements. Ideally I would like to one day get on the FAME stage and compete just to say that I had the guts and confidence to go forward with my dreams! To all of you ladies competing in August I bow with respect!

I Am Looking for Advice On:

My transformation has been a slow one which I have contemplated for a number of years. It isn’t until my best friend made me realise the potential I could achieve that I started to take body building and cardio exercising much more seriously. After much convincing I started getting up at 6am every week day to do a 45 minutes cardio workout before heading off to work. I hated getting out of bed so early for a very long time if I must be honest as I have never considered myself to be a morning person; but over the months I have slowly begun to enjoy and look forward to my morning workouts and that without true realisation until recently. I now jump out of bed most mornings ready to take on the world! I do my weights after work but this has never been a chore as I have always enjoyed that aspect of training. The real transformation came once I started to incorporate cardio into my workouts, but also started to read and study the power of clean eating. Spending time trying to understand all the facets that make up a successful training routine has really helped. I believe that motivation comes from within and seeing the results helps move onto the next stage – every quarter I seem to complete a new phase and reach a new level. Looking back I realise how I am making some permanent changes. It is a slow process but worth every minute and hour of it.

My line of work is in the IT industry as a business development specialist. This type of position is always challenging and requires good inter-personal skills as well as a strong enjoyment of people in general as I am forever having to meet and talk to new people. This is the part I love the most.

My Philosophy on Nutrition, Physical Fitness &/or Focused Thinking:

Be patient, be consistent and be kind to yourself. Rome wasn’t built in a day – for those of us who are starting into fitness it requires a lot of effort, sweat and strength of mind to get to your goals – make sure you have objectives and don’t give up if it takes longer to get there – hard work always pays off in the long run!

I am Grateful For:

In terms of fitness moments I would say having been able to improve a bad posture ten folds and reaching 15.6% body fat. Finally putting my money where my mouth is and making the effort to write this profile! Gosh it feels good  Thanks Body Proud!
