- I've been a registered nurse for 20 years, looking after people with respiratory problems. Don't have a shameless plug except to say smoking is bad:(:( So please don't!!!
- My BodyPROUD Story
- I have never been a fit person until now. I Found myself at 40 years, a newly single mom to 2 young daughters, depressed and saddened by personal circumstances. Refusing to allow myself to feel that way, I decided what is the one way to lift the human spirit? Proper eating and exercise is a start. Little did I know the impact it would have on changing my relationship with the way I see food and the way I now see myself. I feel I am a strong and capable woman who wont let anything get her down. I have become empowered by my own inner strength and hope to help others feel that with strength of mind, and good personal trainers who truly care, your body you can do anything. That is what Body Proud means to me.
- My Facts 'n Stats:
- My journey started 7 months ago when a voice in my head told me I needed a change. Joined a new gym, did their Detox program, changed my eating habits, and started an exercise program that I'm now committed to. I've lost 28 lbs so far and have transformed my body. More importantly it has helped to heal my spirit that at the time was hurting.
- My AHA Life Defining Moments:
- Being Body Proud to me is about respecting what your body can do for you. Fuel it properly , exercise it well and the returns you will get back from your body will be immeasurable. Health, happiness, vitality, and the power of human strength.
- My Transformation Triumphs!
- The fact that I would even consider myself capable of doing something like this. My perceptions of myself have changed in such a positive way.
- My bodyPROUD Intentions:
- Increase My Confidence, Improve my Health, Become a Role Model to My Children & Family, Keep Me Young, Feel Better about Myself, Compete in Physique Showcase Events, Sculpt My Physique, Feel Good in a Bathing Suit, Be an Inspiration to Others
- To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:
- No such thing as a timeframe. Life is about achieving the next goal which for me will be a lifetime.
- Life Advice that Helped Me:

- Please Help ME with:
- Curiousity in regards to fitness competitions what it entails ie nutrition requirements, fitness requirement. Totally new to this. Eager learner!!!
- My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
- Follow religiously the nutritional guidelines set by the gym I go to with the occasional indulgence of a drop of good food(aka the fattening stuff, but only a drop:):) I also exercise like a banshee. 5x per week mixing up cardio with weight training. Also looking to try new things every month or so. Love resistance band training and spin class.
- Expressing Gratitude is a Key Ingredient to a Happy Life. I Am Grateful for:
- My family, my friends, my daughters Emily and Chloe and my health.
- My Hero / Role Model / Trainer / Sponsor / Coach / Guru... and Why
- Thanks to everyone at BodyfitKelowna especially Clint, Chris, Julia, Daneen, Monica, and everyone else that ever worked there that I haven't mentioned. You are all my heros, my inspiration and the reason I feel the way I do today. Godsend.
