My Background // My 'Story"
In 1985 in 10th grade I weighed in at a massive 103 lbs. I was athletic, but very small, and turned to weight lifting to help build my body and my self confidence. My body responded well to the weights and after just 3 years I decided to enter a local Bodybuilding competition. I loved the experience and I have been hooked on training and competing ever since.

Over the past 21 years, I have continued to train and compete in both Powerlifting and Bodybuilding. I am a lifetime drug free athlete and have won numerous titles in powerlifting and bodybuilding over the past three decades. In 2004 I set the goal of attaining my Natural Pro Card in Bodybuilding. I achieved that goal in 2005 by winning the Overall title at the FAME Southwest U.S. Championship.

In December of 2005 while training for the 2006 FAME World Championships, I suffered a full tear of left Pec Major tendon. The tendon tore completely off the bone and was ripped to shreads. The Pec Major muscle retracted into my chest and I had surgery 4 days later to repair and reattach the tendon and muscle.

I spent most of 2006 in rehabilitation, working on regaining my range of motion and slowly returning to resistance training.

In late 2006 I was cleared to resume full training and set a goal of returning to the FAME stage to make my Pro debut at the FAME North American Champioships. I needed this goal to push myself through the physical and mental pain of forcing my atrophied muscles to respond again. Training was very different this time around as my body simply didn't have the ability to recover and grow like it had in the past. Every training day was a struggle I had to overcome. I pushed through the pain and achieved my goal of returning to the stage for my Pro debut in November 2007, placing third in the Pro Bodybuilding Division at the FAME North American Championships.

Over the past decade I have also worked extensively in the Fitness Industry as a competition promoter, author, columnist, and supplement company executive. I have written numerous articles that have been published in industry books and magazines, and created magazine ads and posters that have been viewed by millions world wide.

I left the supplement industry to join the FAME Team in early 2008 and have been involved with the Marketing, Promotions, and Creative Design for FAME for the past 1 1/2 years as the Creative Director and Marketing and Promotions Director.

I love applying my experience in the Fitness Industry to help promote the Body Proud lifestyle and look forward to a long future helping to grow FAME and Body Proud to even greater levels and spreading the Body Proud ideals around the world!

Timeframe &/or Plan to Reach My Body Proud Goals
I am currently working to improve my physique and gain back much of the muscle that I lost after my pec tear. I intend to return to the stage again in the next few years when I truly feel I can reach my best ever condition.
The exact timing will depend on my physical progress, but I WILL get back on stage again!

My Pec Tear Recovery And Beyond - My Journal Of My Return to the FAME Stage

Hi everyone! Welcome to my Blog and Training Journal.

First let me introduce myself.
My name is Michael Elias and I am a FAME Pro Bodybuilder.

After earning my FAME Pro Card in 2005 I had set my sights on competing in the 2006 FAME World Championships in Toronto. Unfortunately, in December 2006, while finishing up the last week of my off season heavy training phase, I suffered a complete tear of my left Pec Major tendon. The pec completely tore away from the bone and retracted into my chest te… Continue

Hi Michael,
I'm so sorry that we didn't have a good opportunity to speak after the show. I'm still floating. Hopefully, by the time we see each other in Vegas, I'll be a little more settled and ready to engage you with more than a coat of Protan on your suit. I would like to thank you for the monster sized honour with which I was awarded this weekend. For some it may be just the thing to push their ego over the edge. For me, it was perfectly humbling and has reminded me not only of my goals but of the responsibility that I have to my fellow competitors and the legions of fans that this industry entertains. If there is anyway in which I could offer my time at any future WNSO events, please let me know. It would be more than a pleasure.
