My BodyPROUD Story: There are so many things that i love. I am never afraid to try new things. There are so many things that I enjoy doing. I think that enjoying life and spending time with my family most important to me. I am an animal lover, so my family consists of 3 dogs, 2 cats and a squirrel.

My Facts 'n Stats:: My names is Melissa Perry. I am 32 years old. i have enjoyed working out for many years. It was not until Feb 2008 that i became "serious" about my workouts and my goals.

Ancient City - 3rd in Masters
Dexter Jackson - 6th in Open 7th in Masters
Debbie Kruck - 1st in Masters
All South - 8th in Open

My AHA Life Defining Moments:: I love competing. From the first moment I was on that stage in front of everyone, I knew that I was hooked. It was funny, my last show one of the NPC judges were back stage directing us on and when I was in line waiting, he said to me "I know your not nervous, you are great on stage" I guess i just have the confidence in myself to walk out there and feel accomplished.

To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:: Goals are very important to me. I basically live my life to reach goals that I set for myself. If I would have to say what my Body Proud Goal would be..... I would say that my goal is to be on the cover of a national fitness magazine.

How I Boosted my Confidence and/or Added Joy and/or Health into my Life:: One thing that I have learned from competing is that you cannot judge yourself against others. I have been back stage with some of the most beautiful girls who work as hard as I do. Taking time to pick yourself or another person apart is not going to help you achieve anything.

Please Help ME with:: I stated working out with a trainer in Feb 2008. We set goals for me to reach and I met them. In the process, I started working not only with my trainer Ehab, but with Gale Elie and Dexter Jackson. By having three of the best trainers, it has opened up so many opportunities for me. After my first show, I met with Dexter and Gale. I was not the most developed of the girls that they work with, but they say potential in me. I worked harder than I ever have in 5 weeks to prove to them and myself that I can anything that I put my mind to. I felt that I look great before that, but what Ehab and I did my body in those weeks... WOW. I continue to prove that I can do it.

Expressing Gratitude is a Key Ingredient to a Happy Life. I Am Grateful for:: Even though I did not come home with a trophy at the Dexter Jackson Classic, finding out how I placed in that show was a huge accomplishment and one of my most proudest moments. There were so many contestants in that show and it proved to me that I can do anything.
