My Facts 'n Stats:
Hi! I’m a Vancouver based personal trainer, fitness competitor, stunt performer and stage combat coach.

I've been in the fitness industry in some way my whole life and have a very active household. Between my husband and I our house contains 5 bicycles (mostly his - he’s a competitive bike racer!); 7 stringed instruments (his!); a selection of swords including broadswords, rapiers & epees, (mine!); too many books to count (mostly mine!) and two crazy cats that pretty much rule the roost. I spend my days balancing my own training, my clients training, life with friends and family and work in the film industry. Life is good!
My Background // My 'Story"
I started performing at about the age of 3 when I began my training as a Highland dancer. That soon grew to include ballet, tap, jazz and singing. A theatre geek all through high school I went on to attend musical theatre and drama school. I discovered the fitness industry when I began teaching a “fast & fizzical” aerobics class to pay for my acting classes! After a foray away from performing to be a fundraiser/event planner/organizer for various not-for-profit arts organizations I got back into performing when I began training to be a stunt performer. This naturally led me back to the fitness industry. Since then I have been lucky enough to train with instructors and fight masters from around the world with organizations such as Fight Directors Canada, the United Stuntmen’s Association, and the Paddy Crean Organization (Paddy was Olivier’s fight double!).

My Body Proud Beliefs:
I firmly believe that you “train it the way you want it to end up”.

I also firmly believe that training and fitness should enhance your life not be your life! Don’t get me wrong - Fitness is a lifestyle. But, for me, as soon as my dieting or training starts taking away from my relationships with family, friends or myself then I know I’m doing it for the wrong reasons. It's as important to enjoy the process as the result!

I want to be fit, happy and Body Proud so I can live a long and healthy life. If I can spread that word to others so they share that life with me even better!
My Most Proud Moments // My Claim to 'FAME':
My most recent proud moment was the FAME Canadians last weekend. For myself - I got back on stage to do a fitness routine for the first time in 10years! But even better for the first time in my competitive history I shared the stage with 3 fellow gym members who were competing for their first time! To see my clients acheive their physical goals and rock that stage was better than any trophy I could have won!

I work full time as a personal trainer. I also work (when I’m lucky) as a stuntwoman and actor. I have worked professionally on various films including The Mime Massacre, Scary Movie 3, and Smokin' Aces: Blowback. I have also worked as a fight consultant and choreographer for several stage productions, and as an instructor at stunt and fight workshops at various theatre and high schools in BC, Alberta and Ontario.
My Advice to You to Help You Reach Your Body Proud Goals:
Just have fun and sell it!!!
A Few Words about my Hero / Role Model / Trainer / Sponsor / Coach
So many many people inspire & support me the list could be endless. But, to give a few credit where credit is due...

- Canadian prima ballerina Evelyn Hart who has, since I was a child, personified beauty, dedication and talent. I still have the signed shoes I got when I was about 10.

- All the amazing people from around the world who have attended the Paddy Crean Stage Combat and Stunt Workshops who believed in me, told me to hit harder, and made me discover in myself a person I really loved. They truly are my non-family family. Niki, Bo, Bryce, Beavis, Joel, Scott, Marie Helene... the list is endless.

- My friends, family and husband who think the whole “fitness competition” thing is bizarre, but support and love me anyways!

- My clients who continually challenge me to be creative, strong and are continuous sources of inspiration.

- my trainer and friend Mike Demeter. Coach Mike was the first one who said “Sure you can do it Meg!”. He continues to have an uncanny knack for knowing when to kick my butt, send me a study or tell me it’s okay to have a glass of wine!

How to THRIVE (not just survive) over the holidays!

Hydration!

Hydration is an issue for everyone. From a health perspective it's imperative, for the athlete it becomes even more important. Too often we mistake thirst for hunger. Optimally the human body is 70-75% water, the average person tends to be around 60% (approx. 42litres).
