- Being Body Proud is about respecting yourself... Your body is the ultimate machine and it's yours for life! So treat it well. - About me, in a box... hmmm... I guess i could 'self-promote' for a wee bit! :) i'm a super happy, fun loving gal. I try to look at the positive in all people and situations and can sometimes be disgustingly optimistic!!
i really enjoy doing all sorts of active things, such as working out and cooking. these two serve as a great stress reliever for me, and unfortunately (or maybe not) i NEED both! sometimes my diet is a little indulgent and if i didn't workout to balance.... well i may look a lot more like a house!
i am a first time competitor, (doing FAME prairies in Calgary on April 25, 09) after training to compete in fitness 4+ years ago. My fitness training for that, was fairly recent after a broken back, and it just proved to be too much training at the time and resulted in me having to postpone my competing career due to injury. i was devastated but.... (after some retail therapy) made a goal that once i hit my 30's, which was this year, that i WOULD try again! so after a couple of car accidents, a change in cities and well... life... here i am!!!
now its time to prove it to myself that i actually CAN do this!!! *gulp!*
guess that was more than a little... hee hee whoopsie! *winks*

- I was born & raised in Edmonton, oldest of 4, and moved to Calgary just over 2 years ago and think its great!
I have a zest for life and truly believe that being in this skin of ours is a gift and we need to live each day doing something that brings us joy. I mean, what else IS there? we all have the power within us to do, be, or achieve absolutely ANYthing that our hearts TRULY desire. if you want it bad enough, you can achieve it... you just have to BELIEVE it!!

learn, absorb and grow! then my Body Proud Goal is to compete in the FAME Prairie's coming up April 25, 2009!!! Then hopefully inspire others along the way, as i have been inspired!
and of course.... MAYBE... one day.... i would love to grace a cover of a fitness magazine!! heck i'd even settle for a clip inside! *winks*

- My Advice to You to Help You Reach Your Body Proud Goals:
- Never give up, never talk down to yourself, and never let others talk down to you. Take the proper time for yourself, to nurture and feed your body, mind & spirit. Always speak to and of yourself with love.
Write down your goals and read them once before bed (to have your subconscious go to work for you while you sleep) and once in the morning (to start your day off on the right track with your goals in mind).
and VISUALIZE!!! the brain does not know the deference between reality and make-believe. but it doesn't want to make a liar out of you. so dream & dream big. visualize your goals over & over & over again, and eventually your brain will come up with a way (a long with ACTION) to make your dreams a reality!

i write this as my legs are absolutely ACHING from my leg day yesterday! i absolutely love/hate leg day!!
i am super pumped that my recent discover that i could do squats has improved from a measly 65lbs up to 105lbs on my 4th set for 10 reps! all in 4 short weeks! i'm doing a new workout that incorporates tri-sets WITH plyometrics and i love it! its tough as hell and not for the faint of heart, but MAN am i seeing some great results with it! im enjoying my last 2 days w… Continue

8 weeks! wha' what! wha what! oh yeah!!!
Ok so let me start of by saying for all of you who are unsure of your progress... GET A BODY COMPOSITION DONE! i went to see my trainer for a progress report and body comp after 8 weeks of my cutting phase (after the dreaded bulk phase where i certainly put ON some weight!). i was so very very pleased! i mean i take weekly progress pics, but i wasn't seeing the changes that were actually taking place!
