Welcome Them!

My Plug:: I am in the insurance industry. I am the big bad wolf personal injury attorneys elude to in their commercials :-)

My BodyPROUD Story: I am a "skater." I have been doing this for most of my life. I enjoy going to skate parties across the country and learn different move and meeting like minded people. I am a turbo kick boxing fanatic and weight lifting bar classes. Being in the gym is my happy place and I stay motivated watching others transform and encouraging them.

My Facts 'n Stats:: I am originally from Des Moines, Iowa, have been in Denver, Colorado for most of my life. I travel quite a bit and am enjoying my life.

My AHA Life Defining Moments:: You and only you are the master of your temple (body). As an African American woman who is atypical in stature and fitness level, with the majority of my peers, I have had to overcome pre-conceived bias as to what I am supposed to look like and be proud of the work and commitment I have made to be in as best shape as I can possible be.

My bodyPROUD Intentions:: Sculpt My Physique, Be an Inspiration to Others, Magazines, Gain Exposure

To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:: I do not believe in timeframes as I consider myself an ongoing work in progress and view Body Proud is an extension of my fitness way of life.

Life Advice that Helped Me:: Do not wait for your friends to come to the gym with you. Don't wait for someone to tell you you're looking good. At the end of the day you have to believe in yourself and know you are doing the right thing for you.

How I Boosted my Confidence and/or Added Joy and/or Health into my Life:: I believe we have an over reliance on processed food. I gave up red meat almost 3 years ago and never felt so good. I stick with the basics which seem to work for me. I believe you have to enjoy whatever physical activity you do. You have to find your own passion to move. Once you do, it becomes second nature. I always tell others to find the activity that works for them.

Please Help ME with:: How to look for opportunties for exposure in and out of Colorado as I feel like I am stuck up on the mountain alone around here.

My Dietary &/or Training Routine:: Fish, fish and more fish. I don't fry anything. I don't venture out much from what I eat and I really don't like to eat at restaurants as I cook every day. I work out 3 days a week plus skate every Sunday.

Expressing Gratitude is a Key Ingredient to a Happy Life. I Am Grateful for:: My friends in the gym community who are supportive of me when others have not been so much in my circle.
