My Body Proud Beliefs:
I would love to compete... I think about it a lot. I know that at some point I will take the plunge and just do it.
Timeframe &/or Plan to Reach My Body Proud Goals
I have about 5 lbs before I'm at the weight I think I would be happy with. Not trying to be ultra lean, but a bit leaner than I am now. Overall I would love to gain more definition specially in the ab area and improve my strength.
I Am Looking for Advice On:
I became interested in fitness about 19 years ago when I was in a car accident and sustained a bulging disc in my neck. The Doctors at that time said the only thing they could do for the subsequent headaches was to give me muscle relaxers. Well at the time I was the single mom of two young boys and couldn't be medicated for the rest of my life. So I started researching ways that I could help myself and stumbled upon strength training. I discovered that thru a regular training regiment and keeping my upper back, and shoulders strong it took the pressure off the disc and the headaches became less and less. I started looking at fitness magazines and like the lean muscular look on women. I dated a Personal Trainer for a year and after that became even more interested in being able to help those like me who needed an alternative to medication and lack of hope. So I got certified and started working as a Personal Trainer in Chicago Not too long after that I became a Fitness Director. I recently relocated to California am currently training out of two gyms.

I think I am most motivated by two people.. my best friend Deb who took her training to a whole new level and has competed. She has a wealth of knowledge about so many aspects of training, nutrition and health. I have the privilege now of working out with her on a regular basis since I moved to California from Chicago three months ago. My second Motivator is My good Friend Ed. He is the personal trainer extraordinaire that I dated for a year. He is still my Mentor in the fitness industry and I value his input on aspects of my own training as well as those he offers when I run into a client that has me a little perplexed. Without his support and motivation I don't believe I would have succeeded in the training industry at the same level.

I have been a Fitness Director, the General manager for the Training Department and a personal trainer. I have to say with all that experience I enjoy now just being a hands on Trainer who gets to make a daily impact on the lives of my Clients. My best friend Deb and I are also starting our own Fitness Business with the core of the biz focused on Personal Training but adding some other fun things to the menu to give our clients a well rounded one stop shop so to speak on health and wellness. My Claim to fame, I was a single mom for two sons for 17 years. They are now grown and living on their own. What lessons I learned about hard work and determination. Those lessons certainly have helped me in attaining and striving for personal Transformation!

A rough Start 99 days to go

I had wanted to begin my journey toward the competition on the 1st of July, however I had a few setbacks that stalled my plan, but I'm hoping to get started full force by Monday. Since I spend 4 days a week as a manager and Trainer of a gym, here is what has been suggested thus far.

Monday

6:30 am: Run for 30 minutes and then walk for 15 minutes before breakfast
7:30 am :Breakfast

And So it begins,

I finally took the plunge and committed to do a competition. The show is October 10th in San Francisco. I am currently at 125 lbs and about 22% body fat (guestimate) I know that I need to be down to about 112 lbs and 11-13% body fat.. lots of work ahead!! I decided to start blogging my daily training and issues so that I have something to look back on and track my successes and find what worked and didn't work for me. If anyone has any tips or thoughts, please feel free to speak up!!

Hi Lisa,
How are things going with your training? When is the competition?
I can't beleive October 24th is about 12 weeks away! I'm on track with the training, eating well, feeling great. i wish i had more time to prepare. I guess i'll just do my best now, and do even better next year.

Hi Lisa,
Did you say that you are 45??!! You don't look a day over 30. I a mother of 2 boys, and a group fitness instructor - just like you. I'm new to this site and looking for advice as well as getting to know people with similar interest and goals. One of my girlfriends just convinced me to compete in a competition - Fame Vancouver in October (this will be my first time). I see that you are also competing in October. Best of luck to you!
