My BodyPROUD Story
Being overweight/obese since 5 yrs of age, I never learned healthy eating habits and struggled with fad diets most of my adult life only to gain back any weight I lost plus more. At my yearly physical at age 44, my doctor labeled me "High Risk". With 2 meds not controlling my blood pressure, medication controlling my cholesteral, a CPAP machine to ensure I didn't "die" while slept (i stop breathing 100 times every 15 mins) I had severe sleep apnea, as well as medication to control severe anxiety which was driven by fear that I was going to die. When my doctor read my EKG and annouced my resting heartrate was 120 I knew at that time I had to make a change for MYSELF or I wouldnt be alive to see my grandchildren. I wasn't a good role model for my children and feared they too would be faced with a lifetime of obesity and unthealthy eating habits.
Fast forward a year later I received a new label from my doctor - "Fit & Healthy". I no longer was on any medication including not needing a machine while I slept, My EKG showed a resting heartrate of 1/2 of that a year prior - 62!
Watching my body transform is amazing in itself, but pushing my body past my comfort zones has allowed me to grow both as a person and athlete. 2010 will be the year to finish shedding the last 10% of my bodyfat and beging my journey to Figure & Body Building competition. Its not over yet and I love the road getting there!!!
My Facts 'n Stats:
lost 75 pounds in 2009 by eating a more clean diet of lean protein, healthy fats and carbs. I have incorporated up to 3 hrs of exercise a day including weight training, varied cardio and yoga/pilates.
My bodyPROUD Goals:
Well its now 2010 - and 2009 has been the best physical year for me! Beginning my weight loss journey late March 2009 - I have surpassed a personal weight loss goal I set for myself of 70 pounds. Seeing what my body has transformed into has made me realize that MORE is possible. While I am thankful for what I have become and in some people's mind should stop here and be happy, I truly feel I have not nearly reached my potential - I refuse to live my life wondering "what if" - Im going to see "what if" up close and personal and if I cannot reach my vision then so be it - I will be satisfied knowing that I gave it my all in trying to reach it.
So for 2010 - my goals are:
1) to continue to shed excess body fat by hiring a sports nutritionist so I do it right!
2) Pick a 2011 show to compete it with the help of a pro coach (same person as mutritionist)
3) Begin my body transformation once again to build muscle under the guidance of my personal trainer and pro coach
4) Attend as many competitions as possible in 2010 to meet other figure competitors, to understand the whole process, get stage tips, size up the competition - all to keep me motivated!

To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:
9-18 months
Life Advice that Helped Me:
keep a workout journal so you can see your progress
set realistic, time driven goals (short and long term!)
surround yourself with supportive people
realize you are not perfect - and if you "cheat" just get over it.
Make a "treat" day so u won't be so inclined to cheat - realizing you will get a treat in a day or in 3 days etc.
How I Boosted my Confidence and/or Added Joy and/or Health into my Life:
Always strive for a goal - if you lose site of a goal you will lose site of your workouts. I also love having a trainer - if it wasn't for him, I would not expand my comfort zone - he makes the impossible attainable!
Please Help ME with:
Proper nutrition shed the last fat pounds and increase muscle mass
My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
Monday - 1 hr step class; 1 hr weight training / Chest & Abs
Tuesday - 1 hr spinning class; 1 hr yoga: 1 hr weight training bi's, tri's & abs
Wednesday - 30 min elliptical; 1 hr w/trainer / quads/hams/calves/shoulders/abs
Thursday - 1 hr kickboxing; 1 hr yoga; 1 hr weights / back/bi/abs
Friday - 1 hr zumba; 30 min w/trainer / chest/tris/abs
Saturday - run 2-3 miles; abs; body part varies
Sunday - either rest or yoga

PREWORK OUT SUPPLEMENTS:
Arginine if doing alot of cardio
NO Xplode
POST WORK OUT SUPPLEMENTS
1 Scoop of Isopure sugar /carb free 27 gr protein powder
1 tsp glutemine

If I am seriousIy Iooking to shed FAT and build muscle does it matter if I do cardio b4 or after weight training? My cardio that would be done prior to weights wud be 35min on ellip 85% max heart rate - approx 435 calories,
