10/03/2009 -- On December 1, 2008, I went to the doctor for my annual physical after returnng from a business trip. My doctor told me that my blood pressure was "out of control". At the time, I had let my weight get up to 365 pounds. I came home and told my wife that I was going to join a gym and start counting calories. That was 85 lbs ago! I now go to the gym 5 days a week, but work out 7. If I'm not at the gym, I'm walking or jogging. I feel the best that I've felt in years. I still need to lose another 100 lbs, but I know I can do it now and will continue with this new lifestye.
My AHA Life Defining Moments:
I believe you can do anything you believe you can do. You have to push your body to new limits. Your body adapts fast, so push it. You also have to learn your body, so that you know when to stop pushing so your body can recoup.
My bodyPROUD Intentions:
Increase My Confidence, Improve my Health, Gain More Flexibility, Increase My Strength, Become a Role Model to My Children & Family, Keep Me Young, Feel Better about Myself, Improve My Posture, Sculpt My Physique, Attain Proper Symmetry, Be an Inspiration to Others

Hi Chris,
There is a good chance that your weight is the same because you are building muscle and still losing fat. I'm not sure that you need to go back to doing what you were before. Your body should be starting to take great shape now with the addition of strength training.
I would not focus so much on what the scale says...its a good tool but there are a couple others you should use as well to help give the bigger picture.
Tape measure - this will show you if you are getting smaller. I would measure chest,waist,thigh.
Body Fat Test - This will tell you if you are losing body fat and/or gaining muscle.

Good job Chris! I too have noticed things are a bit less busy this year. Thinking people are taking it a bit slower after the holidays this year and in Chicago, where I am, it is -8 degrees and snowy, not so appealing to get out even for the most motivated! Thank heavens, there is a fitness center in my building!

Really awesome story! That's a huge lifestyle change commitment to take on and you're doing an amazing job.

You would really enjoy my boyfriend's website. It hasn't been updated for a bit so there are a few changes (one being we moved to Kelowna so he flipped his big run backward now and is going from calgary to victoria). He is a year behind on it because he had a bad hamstring injury last spring but he is back on track now. www.runningforyourlife.ca
