My BodyPROUD Story
I have always been training and trying to live a healthy lifestyle. But, as with most things, there were a few bumps along the way. During a rocky emotional patch, I actually stopped going to the gym for an entire year; every night was a night to go out, eat and drink. Needless to say I was soon out of shape, and had gained a substantial 14kg.

Luckily things turned around just as quickly as they had gone downhill – A new partner came into my life, and along with him a renewed support system for getting fit and healthy again after my slip. My boyfriend helped me with weight training at the gym, something which I was not very familiar with before. I began training with him regularly, and at this point also discovered Fitness magazine's website for the first time. Here, I found different training information and programmes which were an unexpected and incredible help! With this I was working myself up to an advanced level of training, changing my workout as I went along to what suited me and worked best for me.

My eating habits also changed drastically. There was no more dining and drinking red wine every night, no wine whatsoever in fact! And junk food replaced by very healthy alternatives. But I believe it’s important to still have my cheat days when I allow myself whatever I feel like! With the knowledge, of course, that the following week will be back to a healthy eating plan and only drinking water!

The more my body changed while I was training, the more confidence grew inside of me. Just enough to enter myself into the Rapport model competition at the very last minute. It was something I would never have had the courage to do before, but I went for it! And with the results my confidence has grown even more, as I’ve now made it into the top 12 finalists of the Rapport model of the year competition. My family was so proud of me making it so far, especially my mother. From a young age I looked up to her, the perfect role model; she herself is very beautiful, and encouraged me to follow a healthy lifestyle since I was a child. She was just how I wanted to be. And she has been my biggest fan for as long as I can remember, even when I was lacking in confidence, always telling me that I looked beautiful. With her support, as well as that of my dad and stepparents, the rest of my modelling career is flourishing as well! There are too many people to name who helped me along the way, from family and friends, photographers and facebook fans; they all helped me stay motivated and focused, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them!


I hope that my story of ups, downs, and ups is one that will motivate others; providing an example that you can develop confidence you never thought possible by improving your health and fitness. No matter how far you fall, there is always coming back; there’s always light at the end of the tunnel! I truly hope that many women will be able to use Fitness magazine as I have to push them forwards to achieving goals they never imagined possible.

Today, I am living a balanced life. I have time for family and friends, live healthy and always make a point to be positive. I’m thankful for everything I have, and believe that God gave us a life and body that we must make the best of. And no one else can do that except you. But what I’m most thankful for is living a happy, healthy, fulfilled life.

diet - try to eat every 2 to 3 hours
morning oats and 2 egg whites, the alternate between hake, chicken or tuna and pineapple, papaya, broccoli, and maybe a protein shake, 5 to 6 meals per day.

change training routine every 2 weeks
weight training 3 times a week
cardio 4 to 5 times a week
