My Body Proud Beliefs:
In addition, I like sharing my personal successes with women who want to lose weight, tone, build muscle and compete. There is no greater gift then sharing them with other people. I enjoy being able to
help others see results in their physique with the right resistant training, cardio, and clean foods.I really admire women who have the dedication it takes to diet down into competition weighting everything we eat on a scale.
My Most Proud Moments // My Claim to 'FAME':
My Clean Eating; Allow your body to eat 5 to
6 small meals every day – Eat every 2 to 3 hours. What gets written down is done, write it out and implement a meal plan. Combine lean protein and complex carbohydrates at every meal so you are balanced. Drink at least six to eight cups of water every day. Try not to ever miss a meal -especially breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Carry a cooler loaded with clean eating foods to get through your day so you don’t have the urge to binge eat. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables for an am snack and pm snack. Consume adequate healthy fats or essential fatty acids every day. Avoid all saturated and trans fats. Avoid sugar-loaded colas and juices switch to diet. Avoid all over processed refined foods especially white flour and sugar. Avoid alcohol (a form of sugar). Avoid the fast food
Timeframe &/or Plan to Reach My Body Proud Goals
To compete in 2009 in two Natural Figure Shows.
I Am Looking for Advice On:
I best describe myself as passionate for helping others achieve their fitness and health goals of all ages! I started training with weights when I was
14 years of age with a woman bodybuilder in Florida. I began to love the sport of women’s fitness and figure. I then decided to do a Miss Florida petite pageant.

I am inspired by it all so much I hired a personal trainer and nutritionist by the name
of Bill Davey and continued training with weights for years. In 1997 I decided to take
it one-step further into competition in a women’s fitness obstacle course competition
in South Carolina with roommate Kim Hartt. I started training with a few other women meeting at the track, doing ply metrics, as well as at the gym with intense resistance training. I loved the experience to be able to interact with over 100 competitors from around the United States all enjoy the same thing! I attended several bodybuilding shows for several years meeting Michele Ralabate, IFBB, Fitness Professional Competitor
Debby Kruck, Monica Brant, Jen Hendershott who inspired me to follow my dreams with that; smile! I decided to utilize Monica Brant 's personal dietitian Kim Oddo, and work with him and do a figure competition in 2006 inNorth Carolina.

My Philosophy on Nutrition, Physical Fitness &/or Focused Thinking:
Excellence;
Success is not a matter of where you stand, but in what direction you are moving.

Enjoy; Stay Focused and Keep Motivated! Believe In Yourself; I believe In YOU!

I enjoy being able to help others see results in their physique and want to have a healthy lifestyle.

" A positive attitude is a powerful force that cannot be stopped" !

"Stay focused on your dream and follow your goals".

Teamwork;
Is the ability to work together toward a common vision.
It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results...
My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
I am a Natural Athlete
I am Grateful For:
I have been working out on a regimented program now for about 14 months. Initially I decided to do an initial fitness assessment at the Wellness center, which is one of the amenities employee’s as well as guests to our resort are encouraged to use. I explained to our Personal Trainer, (P.T.), at the time, the challenges that faced me, i.e. High blood pressure (160/220), High Body Fat in the areas under my neck around the waste and everywhere in general, I had problems sleeping, and I easily became fatigued after any sustained physical activity. Once my plan was approved by my Doctor; our P.T. Immediately began to work on helping me set goals, and then come up with a program to attain those goals. My initial goals, set when my training sessions started, included the following: weight loss of 30lbs, reduction in waist size, overall reduction of body fat, and an increase of muscle tone.
The road to wellness is long and hard, as I have found out, however; if properly motivated it can also become addictive. The changes I saw taking place in my body only fueled my fire to work harder and learn more.
I reached my goals in June of 2007. My blood pressure is now 90/75, my body fat percentage had dropped considerably, I had more energy and felt in the best physical condition in about 18 years. I had lost about 15 lbs., several inches in my waist line, and yet and I began wanting to try to do more.
This is when my current PT and personal friend Beth Abraham came into the picture. She had taken over the duties of Personal Triaging and Wellness for the resort where I work. I will first start by saying that she is simply amazing. I sat down with Beth and we re- assessed my goals. I now wanted a plan that, not only continued to burn unwanted fat (belly fat), but also would increase my overall muscle mass.
Beth’s training methods, along with her endless supply of enthusiasm to see me achieve, were key drivers in my achievement of goal after goal. Initial targets were achieved and then re-set before being achieved again. Training sessions were kept interesting through the innovative use of a variety of resistance training techniques that built up over time. These included advanced weight training systems, ply metrics, CSI cardio strength intervals, supersets, negative training, descending drop sets, pre-exhaustion, and compound sets, all of which have contributed hugely to my goal achievement as well as keeping sessions interesting and motivational. One thing that she is constantly watching me for is my form. I have learned that if a weightlifting set is going easy I am probably using the wrong form.
note: I am even driven to constantly check my form; I always fell those eyes watching. In addition to the actual sessions, Beth provided me with valuable advice on supplements, diet and nutritional advice to reach some of my muscle mass goals naturally. Throughout my training regime with Beth, I have found her extremely knowledgeable with regard to not only effective training techniques, but also lifestyle changes that compliment the training regimen.
Simply put: I do what Beth tells me to and I see results. It may make me sore, but I see the results in my overall health and it is all worth it. I enjoy working with Beth as a Personal Trainer and if I am ever forced, to find another, they will have huge shoes to fill.

My Advice to You to Help You Reach Your Body Proud Goals:
Recognition: The best minute you spend; is the one you invest in someone else.
The other day I was reflecting on what a wonderful experience it was to work with you. Just to review: I am now a 69 year old lady who in May of 2002 was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a year of two operations, a “very sickening” chemotherapy and tiring radiations treatments, I emerged almost physically “well.” I continued to play golf, bridge, and work in the yard, and just enjoy life in general. The only problem was, I was “enjoying” too much. Living in a resort, the main sport is eating and drinking, and only the best! Much to my doctor’s dismay, I put on pound after pound. I saw my oncologist, first every 3 months, then every 6 months. Each time he would tell me to lose weight. When I visited him in July, 2007, he said if I couldn’t lose weight on my own, perhaps I should see a personal trainer. He gave me the name of one nearby, but I assured him that I had a better solution. The resort I lived in had a personal trainer working within a mile of where I live. Of course, that trainer was you, Beth, and that really changed my life. You and I met once a week, (You said we could do it more often, but I felt once a week was enough.) You started me on an exercise program combining weight training, working with the machines in the Wellness Center and many exercises I could do not only in the gym, but at home. You kept badgering me until I was finally convinced I had to do at least 30 minutes of cardio after each session and then extending that to several times a week. You’ll be glad to know that I now do at least 30 minutes, usually more, each day. I have found that even when one travels, cardio machines are available or one can always just walk. Besides the workouts, you talked to me about my eating and drinking habits. You were very kind and patient as I kept telling you that wine needed to have a place in my diet. You didn’t insist I go on “a diet,” but gave me food suggestions. Never did you check to see what I was eating, but always offered good advice. Now I am so very happy. Everyone I meet says I look great and want to know what diet I’m on and how I lost so much weight. For your information, when we started out last July, I weighed 195 pounds. I now weigh 167 and am working so very hard to get below 150 by late August. August 30th will be my husband’s and my 50th anniversary and we’re spending the weekend in Charleston, S.C. I am not only doing cardio each day, but try to follow the programs you provided for me with the weights, sit ups, machines, etc. I am most appreciative of not only your skill, manner, but do consider you my friend.

A Few Words about my Hero / Role Model / Trainer / Sponsor / Coach
Please share this letter with any of your clients or prospective clients who might think they are too old or too fat or too arthritic or too whatever to benefit from your fitness instruction. I speak for my husband as well.As you already know, we are both retired middle school teachers and are both sixty years old. I felt rather silly at first, to think that an old woman would hire a trainer , but I just did not’t quite know what to do at the gym and I thought that a few sessions with you might be a good place to start. Little did I know that you would completely transform our lives.Your help with our nutrition…”eating clean” as you refer to it has become a new way of life for us. How we wish that we had found you many years ago. With the junk food and processed food and white sugar and flour gone from our cabinets, we have replaced them with whole grain products,( whole wheat crackers, bread, pizza crusts, rice cakes, brown rice, wheat germ, and on and on) which give us so much energy and good taste. We eat lots of lean protein such as turkey, chicken, fish, whey powder, protein bars, plain yogurt, fat-free cottage cheese, sour cream and milk and low fat cheese. We enjoy fresh fruits, veggies, nuts and an ounce or two of dark chocolate each day. And eating six times a day is my kind of diet! We are never terribly hungry and we never feel deprived because eating the right stuff keeps us satisfied. Drinking the right amount of water is a wonderful thing, too. You ‘re right about “eating clean “…it makes your whole body feel clean, from the inside –out and we can honestly say that we have more energy than we have had in years. When I began working with you, I had been taking medications for blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and cholesterol. I do not take the cholesterol drug and have been able to stop one of the drugs for diabetes. I take half as much arthritis medication as I did six month age. My cholesterol is almost 50 points lower than it was three months ago.The exercise regime combined with our new way of eating has made such a difference in the way I feel. I have more energy and my flexibility has increased tremendously. I can go up and down steps like a normal person again.Thank you so very much for changing our lives so drastically. I cannot imagine ever going back to our old ways. You seemed to care so much about my well being from day one. I am so fortunate to have found you and thank God for sending you to me.
