Hi folks! Julie Woods weighing in on this great discussion thread. You're right all around: the median age of a "healthy prime" keeps getting raised higher and higher by Baby Boomers who are still surfing, dancing, and generally having physically c…

Can you tell I'm a wanderer? I love travel and experience new people/cultural/nature exploration....it makes for great inspiration in my art and life. One in the same.
My Background // My 'Story"
I am an ARTIST in all I do:
Body building for antiaging, not competition...well maybe competition with the clock of time. :)
Textile Arts (wearable/costumes/wall designs)
Body Painter
Nature Lover
Positive thinker
Real People Lover

Exercise, eating, rest, social life, fulfillment through living life creatively and passionately all are important in the balancing act to stay young both body and mind.
Refusing to give in to the chronological trap our society inflicts on us is key….live each day as if it is your last. Happiness is everything...in all areas of our lives.
Your health is your wealth!
Profession
Entrepreneur, Entertainment Industry, Artist, Model
My Body Proud Beliefs:
I've only competed in art and did very well with that so maybe it is time to compete in body competions? Nah....I am too busy being creative....unless of course you come to FL and I'll do one of the divisions I can body paint and accessorize myself for. :)
If it is necessary to get noticed, I'll do it...must be the Leo in me. I just want to make a mark in the fitness world for the Demi-Centurians out there. There is a niche that needs to be filled!
My Most Proud Moments // My Claim to 'FAME':
I'm practicing and studying my new obssession of body painting as another art form to excell in! How about a body painting instead of suits contest? ;)

If anyone in my area would like me to paint you please get in touch!
My Prime Body Proud Goals:
Increase My Confidence, Improve my Health, Gain More Flexibility, Increase My Strength, Keep Me Young, Feel Better about Myself, Sculpt My Physique, Feel Good in a Bathing Suit, Be an Inspiration to Others, Magazines, Gain Exposure
Timeframe &/or Plan to Reach My Body Proud Goals
To stay fit and healthy both body and mind.
To inspire
To motivate
To help others
Competition is always in the back of my mind, but I don't think the stage is a necessity to do so. Is it?
I Am Looking for Advice On:
I went from being a street kid of NY, never feeling like I fit in anywhere, to hanging with the wrong crowd when coming to CA, to a marriage that helped me escape a bad lifestyle, depression from "existing" but not living....which led to an exciting ride into the world of ART.

Funny how a bad thing such as depression can force the mind to escape the physical world and go to another place of beauty that allows you to create in the NOW. Out of the chronic depression came works of art I had no idea were within....or even how I did it! And it taught me a lot about my true capabilities.

My work has been shown in many runway shows, mags, books, galleries, etc. Was quite the high. I gave it up for a while when I got into fitness/body building and looked at my new love as an art in itself. Life.

Body building gave me a sense of self esteem that not even my accomplishments as an artist had done. This was real, awake, awareness... I know exactly how I did this.

Just about everything I've done in my life has been a great experience for learning to grow in my physical and metaphysical self!

My Philosophy on Nutrition, Physical Fitness &/or Focused Thinking:

My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
Eating whole foods and working out every other day in the gym, staying active and getting the right amount of rest and hydration! Simple.
I am Grateful For:
Six months after getting into lifting, eating correctly, and living the lifestyle and looking in the mirror at what I had created at 42 years! That was an extremely proud moment. I remember staring at myself for the first time with pride....amazement...and overall JOY!!!

I think this was even bigger than seeing one of my ensembles I created for a runway show in Lyon France and listening to the audiences audible amazement at my creation. That brought tears to my eyes and a sense of worth I had never felt before but making my body what it is today really topped even that!
My Advice to You to Help You Reach Your Body Proud Goals:
First and foremost, it is NEVER too late! Yes you can! When you BELIEVE anything is possible!

Living a creative, passionate life, is essential for sustaining and/or regaining a youthful body and mind.
Too often lifestyle, work, family, etc, are obstacles for being able to find the time to take care of the one thing that gives us our quality of life...our health!
You deserve to feel great and love each and every day of your life!

When did you last evaluate the tasks you do
every day against what’s most important to you?

NEVER GIVE UP....LOVE YOURSELF ALWAYS....the rest will follow!

Hey, great that you are keeping busy doing what you love! I hope you get settled with your home situation soon. I wonder why masters is at 35 for women, It's usually 45 everywhere else. I have seen some women in their 50's and they looked as good or better than some of the younger ones anyway. I guess it depends on the physique. I'm aiming for figure or bodybuilding which starts at 45+; guess I could always aim for grandmasters (or grandma masters as I like to call it). But then its like everyone there is 65+ so who knows. My PT has me aimed for masters.

Good to hear from you! Your pics look awesome AND it looks like you can post stuff here that isn't allowed on BS.com! YAY!
