- My BodyPROUD Story
- My story is probaby common enough. I became interested in fitness as a young adult. As a girl I was a ballet dancer which developed an awareness and a work ethic regarding my physical body, after I quit dancing I never felt quite right about the lack of discipline that was part of my general lifestyle. My Mother became sick with cancer when I was 17, the treatment was very difficult for her and I have spent 12 years since learning about alternative therapies and cancer prevention, including wholistic nutrition and traditional chinese/integrative medicine. At 19 I took a job as a nanny for a fitness trainer who was a great inspiration to me, and I absorbed a great deal about the components of dynamic physical fitness.
I am also very interested in the mind/body connection apparent in this kind of focus. The way that food and fuel for the body affect the brain chemistry and the rampant disease, degenerative disorders and shaky mental health that our society is experiencing, I believe directly related to extremely poor nutritional health. I don't think people realize that they aren't really eating food anymore.....its either a cheap facsimile, or a stimulant, or both.
I am addressing some of my own health issues using nutritional therapy and in the meantime experiencing increased vitality, beautiful skin and a calmer interior environment. :) Among many other things!!!!!
