Profile Information

My Plug:
I am available for all your Voice Over and TV/radio/podcasting presenting needs, acting in commercials/short films/viral campaigns, modelling for catalogue/commercial shoots; as a speaker for corporate events, a motivational speaker and I run training courses on interview techniques, running effective client meetings and presenting yourself with confidence.
My BodyPROUD Story
I trained as a tumbler and gymnast for 16 years and competed internationally as a tumbler for a decade, winning three international medals and received my South African National colours 8 times. I have also trained as a hip hop and jazz dancer for 8 years. Although I have retired from international sport, I am keen to keep in shape and stay competitive. For more information please log onto my website www.daniellapellegrini.com
My bodyPROUD Goals:
Today is the day I commit to taking on a new challenge in my life. As I approach 30, I want to age with grace, fitness and wellness. I look forward to training and competing - aiming for August 2010 for my first competition - an I'm sure I'm going to be very stiff along the way! :)
My AHA Life Defining Moments:
I believe my body is a temple and I am very choosey about what goes into it. I think it is difficult to expect people to respect others and the planet when so many people do not respect themselves. I try to treat myself with kindness, I listen to my body, strive to keep it healthy and work to stay active. A strong body is a strong mind, with will, determination and persistence anything is possible. Believe in yourself and be all you can. Push yourself, surprise yourself and love yourself.
My Transformation Triumphs!
* 2001 Tumbling World Champion - Women's 17& Over Category
* 1992 Bronze Tumbling World Medallist - Girls 10& Under Category
* 2002 Bronze Tumbling Medallist - South Africa vs. France Invitational
* South African National Colours 8 times
* Working in the entertainment industry as a TV & radio presenter, interviewing high achievers
My bodyPROUD Intentions:
Gain More Flexibility, Increase My Strength, Keep Me Young, Feel Better about Myself, Compete in Physique Showcase Events, Sculpt My Physique, Attain Proper Symmetry, Be an Inspiration to Others, Get Discovered - TV, Magazines, Sponsorship, Gain Exposure, Become an Athlete
To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:
I think realistically I will be looking at 2-3 years to reach my peak competitive level (although once in training this perception may be subject to change. My long term goal is to become a FAME World Champion in the Pro category; my medium term goal is to compete in the FAME World Championships and finish in the top 10; and my short term goal is to get into shape and get out competing again, doing my best, challenging myself and growing as an athlete and an individual.
Life Advice that Helped Me:
Stick with it, be kind to yourself and work hard.
How I Boosted my Confidence and/or Added Joy and/or Health into my Life:
Eat clean healthy balanced meals. Good fats all the way. 6-7 meals a day. Lots of fresh fruit and veg. Lots of water. No alcohol - I don't drink anyway so there I'm lucky! Vitamin and mineral supplements, I love Spriralina. I try to eat low GI, but I include meat, carbs and fats in my diet. Allow yourself a treat without bingeing.

Listen o your body when it comes to training, A bit every day is better than killing yourself once a week. Mix it up, there will always be tedious boring or plain old sucky exercises that you won't want to do (running and cardio for me) but if you do these in between exercises you enjoy, it's much easier to stomach and keeps you motivated. Be focussed and make every training session count, but listen to your body - giving 100% one day will be different to your 100% another day. Be kind to yourself, recognise these moments and allow yourself to have them. You will know when you can push harder and do a little more, use these days to your advantage. Most importantly STRETCH!!!! I am a huge believer in stretching, in brings your mind and body into unison and works magic on your physic in the long run. Take rest days, they are equally as important as your training days. Your body needs them on a physiological level to heal and get you ready to improve.

To stay focussed, you need to be committed from the start. If you go in half hearted it will be very hard to follow through. Bad days happen, accept them, get over it and make the good ones count. Your attitude is key, if you are in the right frame of mind you can achieve anything.
Please Help ME with:
Where to start, what to be aware of, tips on training for a beginner, direction towards a good personal trainer in London.
My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
I eat 1500 calories a day (I HATE counting calories I think it's a waste of time and doesn't teach people about healthy balanced eating - but my nutritionist put the plan together and told me the calories) and train 5 days a week including gym (cardio & weights), yoga, ballet, gymnastics exercises and pilates.
Expressing Gratitude is a Key Ingredient to a Happy Life. I Am Grateful for:
My gymnastics & tumbling background that has given me so much in the way of discipline, confidence, a hard work ethic, a sense of achievement, perseverance and persistence, a strong mind, diligence and some of the greatest achievements. My health and intuition. My wonderful, supportive and loving family and friends (new and old). Being able to work in what I love and earn a living from it. The ability to inspire others.

Fitness Blog: Week 2 & 3 – Life Happens…

Posted on January 23, 2010 at 6:00am 0 Comments

Typically after a wonderfully dedicated week 1, last week and this week

(week 2 & 3) life has really gotten in the way. I can’t complain because

the events that have kept me from training have brought very positive

attributes to my life, changing it for the better and ultimately freeing

up my time to focus more on training.

However I do feel like such a cliché, because the amount of people who I have witnessed who are ready and raring to go in week 1… Continue

Week one of training & very stiff!

Posted on January 4, 2010 at 6:00am 0 Comments

Man alive am I stiff! As promised here is the first of my blogs since I have officially training towards my first Fitness & Figure competition.

My wonderful friend Laura Newman is a fantastic personal trainer, and during my two-week holiday out in South Africa, she was kind enough to put together my training programme to help get me in shape for my first Fitness & Figure competition.

To bring you up to speed, I initially thought the competition was in September,… Continue

Welcome – First Fitness Blog

Posted on December 7, 2009 at 6:00am 0 Comments

Welcome to the first page of my fitness blog.

I have decided to try my hand at competing in Fitness and Figure competitions from 2010 (focussing on Fitness competitions). I have been a competitive athlete for most of my life, competing as a gymnast and tumbler on an international level. I am fortunate to have had a successful career by achieving the accolade of Tumbling World Champion in 2001 in the Women’s 17&Over category, winning 3 international medals, being awarded South African… Continue

Hi Daniella,
Thanks for the add and note! Great to meet you!!!
To answer your question, yes I do have a background in Film and Television...I went to Columbia for production in Hollywood, and still work in the business...both acting and production.
That's cool that you're also going to school for that...What area are you most interested in?

i hired a personal trainer in October to get in shape. I have lost 31 pounds. He brought up FAME and the competion in November. It would be my first also. Have a long ways to go though. I am going either way if i get in shape or not.
