The first think I would recommend is doing a detox, the other thing I would recommend is not fully dropping your carbs, but reducing them. What's happening is your body is not able to break down proteins as efficient as most people. This…

Ian, I did find it hard to drop water, I found I was more cut the week before, and into carb depletion. So what would you recommend for an "a" blood type to do to instead for next time? I must say I still had a lot of fun :) Thanks,…

Hey Chantelle, being “A” positive; you may find that if you tried to do a normal carb depletion diet you probable found losing weight and dropping water very difficult. As an "A" blood type the problem is too much meat protein…

Profile Information

My Plug:
I am a nurse (RPN).
My BodyPROUD Story
My brother has competed for last couple of years, and has done very well. As I sat in the audience watching I felt so inspired to get involved myself. Already having lots of fitness goals I wanted to achieve I finally went and saw my brothers trainer (Dave Avery) looking to be apart of this experience. I still have a lot of work ahead of me (diet and training) but I am so excited just being involved and as hard as it is I still am enjoying the process.
My Facts 'n Stats:
I am 22 years old, 5'3", and have lost 30lbs! Just cracked under 125lbs. I am body proud that I am a built chick :)
My bodyPROUD Goals:
I am loving this experience, trying to achieve my fitness goals, starting to see results and meeting lots of new people. As I push forward I try and think of some encouraging advice that I received from my dad.

"When climbing, don't look all the way up the mountain, just look straight ahead, or you will fall back on your heels and fall on your ass."

Not sure what he meant by this at first but he explained to me that it is easier to take one day at a time. Don't get wrapped up in all the details; that I have to loose so many pounds, I have to diet for the next couple of months, I have to hit the gym so many times a week for the next couple of months and how am I going to pull this off. Eventually I become over whelmed and intimidated by everything I have to do and pull off, I was setting myself up for failure. What he was trying to get through to me was to not look "all the way up the mountain" but to take it one step at a time, get through each day individually and move forward. So I try and change the way I think. I focus on my diet and each meal that day, I focus on getting my weight training and my cardio in for that day. Instead of focusing on that I have to do this all over again tomorrow and the next. Easier said then done but working on my mental and emotional strength is all a work in progress too.

Also taking my trainers advice to "trust the process". It is so true. Stay on track with your diet and your training, and it will all come together.
My AHA Life Defining Moments:
As I use to be a very envious person I now appreciate all the hard work and dedication people put into there everyday life style to look as beautiful and fit as they are. It didn't come easy and it certainly did not come over night. I keep that in mind every time I see someone in amazing shape. Instead of being envious, I give that person a lot of credit because I now truly know and will continue experiencing all the hard work and obstacles it takes to achieve a body proud body.
My Transformation Triumphs!
My most proud moment right now is that I finally can fit into my favorite jeans that have been hanging in my closet since what feels like forever.

My claim to FAME is that this is just the beginning to a healthy and fit life style for the rest of my life.
My bodyPROUD Intentions:
Increase My Confidence, Improve my Health, Gain More Flexibility, Increase My Strength, Feel Better about Myself, Compete in Physique Showcase Events, Sculpt My Physique, Feel Good in a Bathing Suit, Be an Inspiration to Others, Become an Athlete
To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:
My time line to achieve my fitness goals are for April 2010, to be ready for the show I am competing in. To reach my goals I will continue to stay on track with my DIET and my training, which I am receiving tons of knowledge and support from my trainer and his wife who are guiding me through.
Life Advice that Helped Me:
Physical health and mental health both need to be achieved to succeed. If you mentally are not strong your pessimistic attitude could be holding you back from achieving your physical health.
How I Boosted my Confidence and/or Added Joy and/or Health into my Life:
Physical health and mental health both need to be achieved to succeed. If you mentally are not strong your pessimistic attitude could be holding you back from achieving your physical health.
Please Help ME with:
How do I get over the fear of going on stage. This is my first show, which happens to be in my home town. I seriously freak out when I think about it, specially when your in heals and a bikini. I mean of course were all going to look good but still I feel so nervous?
My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
Egg whites, egg whites, egg whites, Chicken, Sweet potato & hot sauce. A combination of proteins, carbs, veggy's and healthy fats 6 times a day. Don't forget the sodium free seasonings, and hot sauce to spice things up.

Gym routine: weights 5x a week. Cardio 6x a week.
Expressing Gratitude is a Key Ingredient to a Happy Life. I Am Grateful for:
I am grateful for all the love and support from my family and friends. Trust me I need a lot of work on my emotional strength. Can be very grumpy at times. (grumpy is a replacement word). Also I am thankful for all the knowledge and support I am receiving from my trainer and his wife who is helping me tremendously with my diet and the many questions a day I have. Thank you all very much for helping me through this so I can reach my goals.
My Hero / Role Model / Trainer / Sponsor / Coach / Guru... and Why
I look up to my younger brother who has been successful in everything he does. whether it is academics or sport he always makes our family proud. He has competed in bodybuilding for the last couple of years. Some first places, some not, but either way we were all proud of his dedication and hard work to get him there. I look up to him all the time and hope that when I achieve my fitness goals I too will make him proud of me. Maybe for once I will steal the spot light away from him in our family. All in fun. I only hope I will be as dedicated as he is when it comes to achieving personal fitness goals.

What's happening is your body is not able to break down proteins as efficient as most people. This creates a toxic acid environment inside your body. Ideally you have to reduce your animal protein consumption and add in some easily digestible protein. In fact you are more efficient when you consume carbohydrates

Hey Chantelle, being “A” positive; you may find that if you tried to do a normal carb depletion diet you probable found losing weight and dropping water very difficult. As an "A" blood type the problem is too much meat protein and not enough carbs and vegetables will cause you to be too acidic, resulting in bloating and water retention

Hi Chantel. Just wanted to congratulate you for all that you've accomplished. Reading your bio is very uplifting and inspirational. We're sure that you've affected many people who have come to the site and read your thoughts and advice. Thank you for that.

Also, wanted to let you know that we're excited to see you this weekend for your FAME Stage debut. :-)

With regards to your question about how to get over the fear of getting on stage, it's best to revert to the quote you learned from your dad. Take each moment as it comes. By the time you're backstage, there is no fear. It becomes adrenaline and excitement. Stepping onto the stage itself is exhilarating because you know you've earned your spot there. It's your time to be proud and show the world your body proud triumphs! :-) So in reality, there is no fear. It only exists in your mind. If you take things as they come, you should be pleasantly surprised at how rewarding the experience truly is.

Enjoy your final day of prep. Good luck tomorrow at FAME Centrals! :-)

Hi Chantel,

You can go to Http://www.m2c.ca and pay by paypal if you wish. Or I will be at the registration on Friday if you wish to pay cash.

As for the studio shoot, it would be nice if you can make it :-). Lol, as long as you don't go bar hopping after the show you should be more than ready. However if you can't make it, please don't pay now. You can request a private shoot at a later date but it may cost more.

Cheers and best of luck at the Centrals!
