My Plug:
I am a personal trainer and weight management consultant at Merritt Athletic Club in Baltimore, MD. My website is finally up and running! It involves training and nutritional advice and info, as well as competition info and updates. Come visit!
My BodyPROUD Story
I have had a love of sports my whole life, and my biggest passion in school was Track and Field. I competed in track for 10 years since the age of 12, and got to run in the Penn Relays in 2001 and the NJ State Championships in 2002. Being involved in competitive sports has had a tremendous impact in my life! I find that almost every challenge that I encounter and every workout I endure is conquered with the help of my past athletic experiences. I always think "Hey you did it before, you can do it again! You never quit on the track so why should you quit now?" And it works! When I graduated from college, I started working as a personal trainer and nutritional consultant and I absolutely love it, but I had an emptiness inside because I wasn't involved in sports anymore. I really needed a new challenge, so I decided to try a competition and was instantly hooked. The sport requires extreme discipline, organization, preparation, and consistency, and the rewarding feeling of being on stage is such an adrenaline rush!

I want to travel to as many shows as I can so I can gain experience and get to know the organization. I just went to my first FAME event last weekend and I loved it! I am looking forward to heading to FL for the FAME Championships in November and meeting more top fitness competitors!
My AHA Life Defining Moments:
It's amazing how much affect good quality nutrition and exercise has on your body's efficiency, energy, and overall happiness! Body Proud's mission to spread the word about treating your body right is the most important mission there is, because without a healthy body you are limiting your capabilities in life. I hate the feeling that I get after eating a high fat, high sugar meal. I feel like I don't have the energy to do anything but go to bed! Exercising and consuming foods that will give you the energy to do the things you want to do is how to get the most out of life...otherwise it would be like buying a Ferrari and filling it with regular gasoline!
My Transformation Triumphs!
The times in my life when I've been the most proud have always been when I've given my all. One of my most memorable moments is when I ran a 400 meter spring at a track meet and, instead of playing it safe and pacing myself in the beginning, I ran as hard and fast as I possibly could go and I won. Another proud moment is last year, when I competed in May in a bikini competition, I spent my whole competition prep doing everything I possibly could do to prepare for the show...I never cheated on my diet, I never skipped a workout, and I kept a positive attitude even in the toughest of times. I ended up placing 2nd overall in that show, and even though I didnt win I knew I had tried my best. I Basically, any moment in my life that I went out and did what I was truely capable of doing and tried my very best, is a moment that helped shape my life.

To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:
My plan is perfect my physique and gain exposure in competitions that will lead to fitness modeling opportunities, and in the next 10 years I want to be sponsored by a reputable fitness company. By the time I'm 40 I want to have my own personal training company so I can help other people reach their own health goals and aspirations!
Life Advice that Helped Me:
Just keep going and never quit. It seems like when people start their journey for a healthy body, a lot of the time they have an "all or nothing" attitude so when they skip one workout or mess up on their diet (which happens to everyone), they get frustrated and quit. It's called a journey because it has ups and downs, it's not supposed to be easy, and if you cheat on a meal or miss a workout, just remember that you can get right back on track and continue. Being healthy should be a lifestyle, not an army bootcamp. It needs to be something that you will stick with for life.
How I Boosted my Confidence and/or Added Joy and/or Health into my Life:
I think that nutrition, exercise, and the mind all work together and your health and well-being can't be complete without each one. How you treat your body should be the most important focus of your life, because without your own health, how are you going to take care of others? Nutrition and physical fitness are the building blocks to good health, but without focused thinking, it is very easy to get off track. Everything comes down to consistency, you can't just eat right and exercise for two weeks and then call it quits! Consistency is key and with that, you have to have a strong and disciplined mindset.
Please Help ME with:
I would always like advice on improving stage presence and confidence on stage. I find that to be a very difficult aspect to competing, and would love to improve on it.
My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
I like to eat pretty well year round so I can stay pretty lean and keep my energy levels high for workouts. Usually my diet consists of oatmeal pancakes (oatmeal and egg whites with walnuts and blueberries), a protein shake with fruit after a workout, whole wheat crackers and natural peanut butter or low fat cheese, and some kind of lean meat with rice and vegetables for dinner. My training routine varies because I like to mix up the workouts so my body keeps changing. Right now I am on a body part split where I do legs, shoulders, biceps/triceps, back, and chest/abs on separate days. But after a few weeks I will switch the routine back to upper body twice per week and lower body twice per week!

I am always grateful for my family and friends and the people in my life who support me in everything that I do. I also think about how lucky I am to be able to pursue my fitness dreams and have the ability to push myself as far as I can go. It's so inspiring to wake up each day and be excited about all of my future goals and to know that I have found my true passion in life!
My Hero / Role Model / Trainer / Sponsor / Coach / Guru... and Why
Natural fitness models are my heros. They just embody such strength, power, femininity, discipline, and persistence. All of these traits are so admirable to me, and I look up to all of them. I have pictures all over my room of models like Alicia Marie, Jennifer Nicole Lee, and Jamie Eason, they inspire me to work hard and stay consistent!
