Hi Amanda :) .. yes there are many ways to train ..and finding a trainer can be hard with limited funds. Friends are helping me and I am utilizing alot of the DVDs by Jillian Michaels as well as following her book Making the Cut.

Profile Information

My Plug:
I am a Jr. Contract Administrator. I also work part-time at Crowfoot Dodge. I also am looking at restarting my on-line business.
My BodyPROUD Story
I am the oldest of 4 girls. (to this day I don't know how my dad handled it). I have mostly battled with my weight for the last 10 years. I have come to realize that emotional events will cause me to eat and not eat well. This realization prompted me to change things. I have bought Jillian Michaels book, all her workout DVDs and I have thrown myself into reading Personal Development books by Robin Sharma and Marianne Williamson. What made me look at competing was 2 things: A friend, who I am blessed to know, was judging a competition with FAME and it opened my eyes that what I thought was a personal struggle, isn't really that at all - personal in experience maybe, however, shared by many other people. Second was Myriah Scott, I work with her dad and if she can succeed on her journey, then I can too.
My Facts 'n Stats:
I am 33 years old. I am 5'1" and my goal weight is 120 lbs.
My bodyPROUD Goals:
And so I realized that if I behave like a victim, life was going to treat me like a victim—and I was going to create that reality. Having a goal gives you a direction in life. If you don’t have a goal, it’s like getting in a car and not having a destination. You’re spinning your wheels, and you’ll go nowhere. The key to having a goal is having it be definable, having it be realistic. If you have a why to live for, you can tolerate and endure anyhow - it’s, Why do you want to lose weight? It’s looking inside and what your true passion is and letting that be your motivation.
My AHA Life Defining Moments:
I believe that everyone is beautiful. I believe that my body is my temple and I have to start treating it as such. I believe that if I feel good and take care of myself that my outside will reflect that internal happiness. I believe that if you are not taking responsibility for the state of your life, you are a victim. Even when something bad happens to you—because bad things happen—you have the ability to control your reactions and how you view it. Do you see failure as validation that you’re worthless, or do you see failure as an entry point for learning so you grow stronger and wiser and better? And do you see failure as an integral part of success? Taking ownership of the state of your life, you’re empowering yourself to change it in any way that you choose.
My Transformation Triumphs!
This is yet to come - my claim to FAME will come when I reach my goal weight and take the next step of competing in the swimsuit modeling or fitness modeling.
My bodyPROUD Intentions:
Increase My Confidence, Improve my Health, Increase My Strength, Attain Proper Symmetry, Be an Inspiration to Others
To Become BodyPROUD, I commit to do the Following:
Today is Day 1 of the next stage in this new journey .. my goal is to look at being able to compete for October. So I am excited for the hard work ahead.
Life Advice that Helped Me:
Be committed. Be confident. Visualize. Don’t be afraid to let people outshine you. When you surround yourself with greatness, it makes you that much greater.
How I Boosted my Confidence and/or Added Joy and/or Health into my Life:
Nutrition - food it is what fuels my mind and body. Physical fitness is what gives my body strength, my mind clarity, and my skin a healthy glow. Focused thinking is visualizing your goals and dreams as your current reality - nothing is out of your reach. You are what you perceive :)
Please Help ME with:
Honestly - staying motivated or enjoying exercising .. I love running - it's just the lifting weights (I always feel odd). Overcoming my impatience - nothing happens overnight. Anything worth having takes work - that also makes it more enjoying in the end.
My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
I will be eating vegetables and proteins. This is an area where I may some guidance, as I recently went to a holistic nutritionist and my diet has been changed drastically. Training - a friend, who is currently competing, is outlining a weight routine. I will do cardio through running and Jillian Michael's workout DVDs.
Expressing Gratitude is a Key Ingredient to a Happy Life. I Am Grateful for:
I am grateful for this journey I am on in my life. I am grateful for my health, the abundance of greatness in all areas of my life. I am grateful for my dog, my friends, my family and for those moments in life that make us stronger. We all have good people and bad people in our lives - it's these people that help to shape who we are.
My Hero / Role Model / Trainer / Sponsor / Coach / Guru... and Why
My role model, as corny as it is, is Jillian Michaels. She's tough, she's honest, she's a fighter. The motto is simple: “Inspired by Jillian, empowered by YOU!” Perhaps one of the strongest tools in Michaels’ motivational arsenal is the fact that she also walked that long, hard road herself. As a teenager, Michaels was about 50 pounds overweight. She encourages others to embrace those scary, uncertain moments that could provide doorways to new opportunities. You’re less likely to see those possibilities, she says, “when you cling to the past or you hold on too tightly to the idea of what you think life should be or what you think you must have. The key is to take that action and put that energy in the world and then stay open. It’s not about surrendering. It’s not about quitting. It’s about staying open. It’s about planting those seeds and seeing what grows, how it crops up and where."
