My Body Proud Journey Starts Here (Blog Entry #1)
Have you ever thought… What inspires YOU? What is it that drives you day in and day out?
We think of creative people as being inspired and ask about their work. What inspired them to paint, draw, or produce this piece of work? Usually the answer is: a book, poem, film, experience, person or a place. Something else or someone else inspired the artist or the songwriter.

But what about the person in a regular job?

Inspiration is a desire to live life without flinching. Try taking a risk, even if you might fail. Try acting on your emotions, creativity, ability and your beliefs. Take criticism but have the faith in yourself to do it anyway. It’s hard work, but then hard work never killed anyone (or so my Dad says).

You can begin to see that if nothing inspires you or excites you or lights up your life you are really missing something. You are just like a robot performing task after task.

What inspires me, is the thought that I am more than my body. My limitations are only down to my thoughts. Thus I want to keep pushing the boundaries to find out what is there. I want to find out what I can communicate to the world. I am inspired by the fact that through what I do I may enable another person to open their mind. To remove the blinkers and reach their possibilities.

Inspiration is linked to innovation. To introduce new ways of seeing things. Inspiration is a way of understanding the essence of ourselves. Understanding who we are and what we dream about. Whatever it is that inspires you, it is the core of your very being.

So what is it? When we tap into whatever it is that inspires us we are able to share our ideas, thoughts and emotions. As we share and show our dreams, emotions and ideas and thoughts then we gradually become to understand the person we truly are.

Can you really live without knowing what inspires you
My Philosophy on Nutrition, Physical Fitness &/or Focused Thinking:
Its about setting realistic attainable goals. The name of my company is Inside & O.U.T. Fitness. I truly believe that one must change on the inside before you can make the changes you want on the outside. Without Nutrition, you will never be able to achieve your physical goals!
My Dietary &/or Training Routine:
I train my body like a body builder. One body part per day...to FAILURE... I am a weight room jukie.. some call me a "meat head". I prefer weights that cardio.. but I know you need a combo of both to achieve what I have!
I am Grateful For:
My children and my best friend/boyfriend.
My Advice to You to Help You Reach Your Body Proud Goals:
Love yourself. Do not compare your body to anyone else...be your best, strive to be better...for you.
A Few Words about my Hero / Role Model / Trainer / Sponsor / Coach
I have three heros. My children... my true motivation in everything I do. They are the strongest and most inspiring kids I have ever met. I was put on earth to be a wife and a mama... everything else is something I HAVE to do...they are the reason I breath. My partner/trainer/motivator and best friend Allen...he make me want to be a better woman. He encourags me, keeps me strong when I feel weak and always reminds me on days I am feeling discouraged... just how far I have come!

Be like a kid again… make exercise fun!

If you’re trying to add more activity and movement to your life, one place to look for inspiration is your children. When we were kids, we never said, “I have to go exercise.” We just wanted to play and move. Here are four things about being active and healthy that you can learn from kids:

1. Life is a game.

What are you afraid of??

It’s no secret that America's “battle of the bulge” continues to grow and it’s often attributed to our lack of movement and our over sized portions. And yes, those are the obvious reasons, but I have come to discover that it isn’t only lack of motivation that holds people back, but it’s FEAR! Fear is an emotion that often stops us dead in our tracks. So in our current uncontrollable economy, one thing we can control is our commitment to our health. If fear has held you back, the best way to conq… Continue

It's a New Year/New Decade....TIME FOR CHANGE!

It's a NEW YEAR! ANNND a New Decade!! That means it’s “resolution” time once again! Turn on your television or listen to the radio and I guarantee you will hear someone talking about New Year’s Resolutions. Some people love to make resolutions, some people steer away from them…regardless, a resolution is really just goal-setting wrapped up in a fancy package for a holiday, and in order to successfully attain any goal, you need to have a plan and take steps to set yourself up for success!

Person… Continue

New Year's Resolutions!

Let me tell you, working in the fitness industry, this is one of the busiest times of the year. Everywhere you turn, people are focused on the things in their life they need to change, and many times (especially at this time of the year after maybe indulging a little too much during the holiday season) this includes their state of health.

What I have found in my experience is that a lot of people fail to keep their “resolutions” because these resolutions are usually based on the negative concep… Continue

Getting through the Holiday Season!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas weekend! This can be a stressful time to try to stick to a regular routine and maintain healthy habits.

Here are some tips for making it through the next month…

1) Have a plan. I’ll say it again and again: a plan is crucial to success. Anticipate sticky situations you could encounter and plan your course of action. Planning beforehand which low-calorie drinks you’ll order and which healthy foods you will fill up on is the difference between self-control and… Continue

Hi Amy,

I spoke to my trainer this morning and he thinks that I should compete and he wants to compete also. I am thinking maybe I should do the body transformation category. This one is for beginners, right? My trainer used to compete, but has not in many years. Where can I find detailed descriptions of each category? Also, I would like more info on the diet coach. Thanks Amy! I am getting excited!!!!

I won't be ready to compete until March or April of 2011. I have only been training for 6 weeks and I am still trying to understand what I am supposed to be eating. I am gluten, seafood and dairy intolerant. I have hired a trainer who is great. I will be at the competition in DC in October.
