To FAT to be FIT?

Still at a mere 260lbs and wearing a size 3XL, it was only 4 years ago that I was getting ready to teach my first kickboxing class.  There were several people that were not happy with the fact that there was a “FAT GIRL” standing in front of the classroom, because I didn’t fit the stereotypical fit physique. Now flashing forward to the Arnold Classic, where I am another 100lbs lighter and I found myself surrounded by several hundred of the world’s most fit physiques and still conidered a “FAT…See More

Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.

Profile Information

My Plug:
I started my own health and wellness solutions company. I have government contracts, personal training, motivational speaking and work with over 500 inner city youth, to inspire them to live healthy lifestyles.
My BodyPROUD Story
Once weighing in at a mere 490lbs. I decided it was time to get healthy. I started with 52% BMI... I have lost a total of 340lbs and my BMI now is 13%. I used food as my addiction to cope with the life I was handed. 4 1/2 years ago, I decided to take control of my life... and started on my new journey, never looking back and never letting the road blocks get in my way!
My bodyPROUD Goals:
Have you ever thought… What inspires YOU? What is it that drives you day in and day out?
We think of creative people as being inspired and ask about their work. What inspired them to paint, draw, or produce this piece of work? Usually the answer is: a book, poem, film, experience, person or a place. Something else or someone else inspired the artist or the songwriter.

But what about the person in a regular job?

Inspiration is a desire to live life without flinching. Try taking a risk, even if you might fail. Try acting on your emotions, creativity, ability and your beliefs. Take criticism but have the faith in yourself to do it anyway. It’s hard work, but then hard work never killed anyone (or so my Dad says).

You can begin to see that if nothing inspires you or excites you or lights up your life you are really missing something. You are just like a robot performing task after task.

What inspires me, is the thought that I am more than my body. My limitations are only down to my thoughts. Thus I want to keep pushing the boundaries to find out what is there. I want to find out what I can communicate to the world. I am inspired by the fact that through what I do I may enable another person to open their mind. To remove the blinkers and reach their possibilities.

Inspiration is linked to innovation. To introduce new ways of seeing things. Inspiration is a way of understanding the essence of ourselves. Understanding who we are and what we dream about. Whatever it is that inspires you, it is the core of your very being.

So what is it? When we tap into whatever it is that inspires us we are able to share our ideas, thoughts and emotions. As we share and show our dreams, emotions and ideas and thoughts then we gradually become to understand the person we truly are.

Can you really live without knowing what inspires you

Be like a kid again… make exercise fun!

Posted on April 1, 2010 at 3:51pm 1 Comment

If you’re trying to add more activity and movement to your life, one place to look for inspiration is your children. When we were kids, we never said, “I have to go exercise.” We just wanted to play and move. Here are four things about being active and healthy that you can learn from kids:

1. Life is a game.…

What are you afraid of??

Posted on January 2, 2010 at 8:00am 0 Comments

It’s no secret that America's “battle of the bulge” continues to grow and it’s often attributed to our lack of movement and our over sized portions. And yes, those are the obvious reasons, but I have come to discover that it isn’t only lack of motivation that holds people back, but it’s FEAR! Fear is an emotion that often stops us dead in our tracks. So in our current uncontrollable economy, one thing we can control is our commitment to our health. If fear has held you back, the best way to… Continue

It's a New Year/New Decade....TIME FOR CHANGE!

Posted on January 1, 2010 at 3:51pm 0 Comments

It's a NEW YEAR! ANNND a New Decade!! That means it’s “resolution” time once again! Turn on your television or listen to the radio and I guarantee you will hear someone talking about New Year’s Resolutions. Some people love to make resolutions, some people steer away from them…regardless, a resolution is really just goal-setting wrapped up in a fancy package for a holiday, and in order to successfully attain any goal, you need to have a plan and take steps to set yourself up for… Continue

New Year's Resolutions!

Posted on December 28, 2009 at 11:00am 0 Comments

Let me tell you, working in the fitness industry, this is one of the busiest times of the year. Everywhere you turn, people are focused on the things in their life they need to change, and many times (especially at this time of the year after maybe indulging a little too much during the holiday season) this includes their state of health.

What I have found in my experience is that a lot of people fail to keep their “resolutions” because these resolutions are usually based on the… Continue

Your fitness and life achievements are refreshing for me as a owner and fitness trainer. There is a misconception on how to do things and the biggest loser show does not help in my opinion. Congrats on your current achievements and best of wishes on your future achievements

Thank you Amy. Sorry for the tremendous delay in responding. I am a relative newbie at this. I have played sports and lifted weights for quite some time. I have battled weight issues my whole life and within the past 3 years have had both hips replaced but I am attacking life to the fullest. I have lost about 40 lbs so far, am active and living a much healthier lifestyle. I look forward to connecting and sharing motivation with the rest of the BP family.
