My BodyPROUD Story
I've always had an issue with body image and eating. When I was 10 I first stopped eating and shortly after that I was diagnosed as anorexic. Went into treatment and then after that I became bulimic and then a mixture of the two (both anorexia and bulimia). Bulimia is where I gained all of the weight. I like to think that I am recovered now and would like to lose weight the healthy way this time.

Went down a size but scale not moving-- strange

Posted on June 5, 2009 at 10:25pm 2 Comments

I went shopping the other day and I was shocked to see that I now fit into a sizw 14, I couldn’t believe it because we weight is not going down at all lately and if anything I’m heavier then I was before but I went down a size. Don’t get me wrong, I am so happy but I wish that the scale would go down because to me what the scale says means everything. I don’t know why I’m not loosing weight but I went down a size. At first I thought that it was only one store but then I went to many others… Continue

First Tri-A-Tri

Posted on May 31, 2009 at 10:11pm 0 Comments

So today was the first time that I competed and I did a tri-a-tri which in case you don't know is about just half a triathlon (I think anyways). We had to swim 375m, bike 10km and run 2.5km and o my gosh it was so tough. I trained but not as much as I would have liked because I was so busy but I made it under an hour which was my goal so I am happy :)

Now I am paying for it though because I have bad knees to begin with and my left knee is sooo sore and I have to teach two classes…

Well, today I did a bit better, I tried to eat clean and healthy all day the only thing that I messed up on is I had 2 skittles :( but the rest of the day I did alright! I also worked out today for 3 hours. 1 hour spinning, 1 hour kickboxing and 1 hour step pump and now i am exhausted but it was for a good cause :) well hopefully I lose weight today because it means a lot to me..... The only thing is to lose weight is it best that I focus on more cardio or weights as well? I'm not sure and… Continue

I don't know.......

Posted on May 19, 2009 at 9:19pm 1 Comment

I don’t know what is wrong with me at the moment and why I am not loosing weight. Today I went to the gym and I stepped on the scale and it didn’t say that I lost anything since Saturday which I thought that I would and I have been pretty good…… Today I did an hour toning class and then I did a hour boxing class but I’m getting really depressed and I’m so scared to eat because I think it’s eating that is making me fat…. I’m just sick of life, sick of everything at the moment…………

Checking in to see how you're doing now? :-) Sometimes it's not the weight that's important, it's the shape... When you work with weights, you add more muscle which has its own weight to it.

Yes, I run DreamBodies Body Transformation Business here in New York (www.DreamBodies.net). We handle clients all around the world with our Online program. Allison, just hang in there and do NOT let the number on the scale dictate your desire or your commitment. I know it can be hard to do that, but it is one of the keys to steady, continued progress. If you're putting in the work, just remain positive and focused. Do you use visualization daily?

Hi Allison!

I'm doing well. Very busy with clients and training myself. How about you...how are you feeling?

For toning and losing weight, you should be doing a bit of both. Resistance training will help burn calories and build muscle which in turn will help you burn more calories. When I started working out I was doing weights 3-4 times a week and about 30minutes of cardio a day (hard enough so that it was difficult to talk). You'll lose weight if you do cardio for sure but you'll lose muscle as well and without the muscle you'll be left with loose skin. A really good cardio workout for the days you don't lift weights is called HIIT (high intensity interval training) it's muscle sparing and unlike LI cardio it's also muscle sparing. I hope this helps! :)
