Pre Operation ecercise and weight loss/cardio plus strengthen joint areas

Well I wish to start {Brent for you} to say that I will be trying to hold of my second and the major "fusion" on my right ankle. Talar dome problems caused the 1st, having enough dorseflexion ONLY JUST allowed me still to drive.
Now the problem is under the talus and that means the foot will become like a "block". OK yes , I have whole body chronic pain anyway so I am not worried about that.

Now I have 2 knees that are bone on bone and need 2 new ones and left ankle fusion last.
MY QUESTION, is I am going to push myself in the gym/pool/bike as much as I can, to lose all rubbish weight , build cardio, and try NOT TO PUT TO MUCH MUSCLE BULK ON!!!!
I have the genes that mean if I up weights "I Blow Up big".
I will put down for all to see, the program worked out by Gym and my Physio {ex Mr Australia. himself} who says this Site is critical for me}
Now I aslo have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so just getting to the gym is a hard task to "say go go , get up now and go"
I want all your advice, all of you on diet {I do have a dietician but she does not know much about expended calories and what to put back}
And for the program I want any comments from anyone thanks gang.
So wait and I will prepare a pakage.
thanks to you all here!

Hi Chris,

Sorry I didn't notice your discussion earlier. There are a number of things you can do to minimize weight, but maximize energy. Although it would help to have some idea of your present eating habits, one key thing I might point out is - minimize your high glycemic foods. This is refering not only to simple sugar intake, but a number of the staple carbohydrates like plain white potatoes and even white rice, because...

1) It is high glycemic foods (coupled with a high calorie intake) the sets up the body for fat storage.
2) Complex carbohydrates like rice and pastas are best when they are high fibre (whole grain). This aids in bowel motility, increasing nutrient absorption and digestive system health. It also produces a greater feeling of 'being full' due to it's longer digestion time - reducing the likelyhood of binge eating etc.
3) The longer digestion time will also serve to maintain energy levels, helping alleviate some fatigue symptoms.

I will add to this soon as I have an entire nutrition course that I developed some years ago. I will attach it for you next time (I don't have a copy of it on this computer).

Meanwhile could you give me a general idea of your present diet, or lack thereof...

Hi Honnor,
I'm glad to hear you are competing! Good for you! I myself will be competing again next March. We should all occasionally update each other on our progress. I find people like you and Chris EXTREMELY inspirational, people truly with the 'never say die' attitude. Although all our 'problems' are somewhat different, our goals and aspirations are very similiar.
Best of luck...
-Brent-

I also have chronic fatigue and fybromyalgia. Have you ever tried hydrotherapy? It makes the world of difference for me whenever I start to feel bad. If you google "fever treatment," you will find different variations of it. It was recommended to me by an M.D. who specializes in non-drug therapy. Five fever treatments a day for three weeks and you'll feel like a new person. (Never do them alone.) If you consider that, keep in mind that there are some contraindications so be sure to check with a physician who's into that.

I HAVE SENT THIS EXACT MESSAGE TO PHYSICAL HEALING HONNOR AND FRIENDS< I AM BACK AND ALIVE WITH A LONG WAY TO GO.
Hello everyone, well it has been 3 months since my 4 hour surgery on my right ankle, 2x 5 inch screws drilled up through the heel to go with the ones in the flat of the foot.
I can only now move my toes, no oblique movement and only 8% doseflexion from the toes.
Just out of the casts after surgery in June, and now a "moon-boot",
I see the Surgeon late Septemeber to see if I can even start re-hab, and this will take another 4 off months minimum.
I have lost 4 inches of the calf, and 3 of the Quad's.
I will send a photo if I can. ,
I am now starting to get "frustrated" at not beeing able to move about, and I lapsed into "DEPRSSION" for a while ther {that is why I have not been on this Site for a while.
ASLO: I needed shoulder surgery, a tear in the Laboral area near the socket, bone chips , and a fraying tendon, but I have had to use the crutches for so long the damage may have worsoned.
So I will have that as soon as I can "sort of Walk" again!!!
THIS IS THE START of another 4 years of surgeries, as the LEFT Ankle needs fusion and I need 3 knee replacements and a hip job as well. PAIN is accute on the foot and shoulder, and the rest of the body is suffering from normal Chronic Pain , well I can handle that..wear a mouthguard and be cognitive and seek out new things to do whilst I am laid up.
Sorry I have not been on for a while everyone, but that drpession period meant I wanted NO part of the Internet/Emails etc.
I AM ALIVE
Cheers
