Muscle Model Search

FAME MUSCLE MODEL COMPETITION

Target your Body Proud goals to include competing in the FAME World Tour!

Overview:
The Muscle Model category is for muscular individuals who have both definition and mass and who could, if desired, also train towards competitive bodybuilding. It is a great category for those wishing to pursue a career as a Muscle Model and for those who currently compete in bodybuilding and wish to further their exposure within this industry.

Who:
* Males and Females
* Individuals of all ages (there is even a category for those over 35 years)
* Fitness & Yoga enthusiasts
* Personal Trainers - great for boosting your clientele
* Aspiring & Current Fitness Athletes
* Those looking for a challenge and a way to stay motivated to be in shape

Compared to Bodybuilding and Figure
* The Muscle Model Search is much more relaxed.
* Athletes do not need to be as vascular or striated.
* Flexing is not necessary and should be kept to a minimum
* There is no routine component
* Great for aspiring bodybuilders & figure competitors since it’s an excellent way to get use to the stage prior to adding in the other components
* Perfect for competitive bodybuilders & figure athletes who want to maximize their exposure and stage opportunities.

The Look:
You will notice there is not one specific type of look that excels in this category rather it is the overall package and how well your musculature, leanness, tone and fitness level complements your skeletal structure, personality and physique.

There is not a specific percentage of body fat nor musculature that is ideal for this category, rather it's what best suits that athlete as per their skeletal structure and frame. Competitors should display a muscular, defined physique with symmetrical upper and lower body development. Physique should be lean without excessive body fat. Muscle Size, Separation, and Visible Ab development expected in this division. Hard conditioning is allowed but competitors should not be excessively dry or striated. Abs should be visible and you should display muscle definition and mass (males typically have larger lats, traps and pectorals than their fitness model counterparts). Striations and vascularity should be minimal. (Those who have less muscle mass should enter the Fitness Model or FAME Beauty category).

Judging:
Overall, judges are looking for excellent muscle tone and definition; posture and symmetry; confidence, charisma, projection and exceptional style on stage; ability to pose in interesting ways; lean body composition; great stage presence; an attractive, healthy, vibrant look that could be marketable in the industry; style and fluidity of walk and turns; attractiveness, marketability, individuality, personality and general impression; and choice of outfits which should look great on and properly highlight a fit physique. Athletes should appear vibrant and healthy and must have a great attitude.
Tip: Models should appear comfortable and relaxed on stage unlike bodybuilders, fitness and figure athletes who assume a more rigid stance.

2 Rounds of Competition:
There is an individual walk-out where athletes perform their own style of turns (1/4, 3 point or 1/2...). They may also include a trademark wave, hair flip or in some way show their personality. There is also a group comparison when all models will be directed to perform a series of four 1/4 turns to the right.

1. Swimwear Round (60%)
Athletes select their own competition suit for this round. They should pay attention to styles, cuts, colors, patterns and fits that flatter and accentuate their personality and fit body, and perhaps hide any flaws. Often suits for females are custom designed complete with crystals or rhinestones. High heels with clear bottoms are standard for the females.

Themewear Round: (40%)
Models should wear themed outfits that show off their personality, spirit and individual style. Outfits can range from simple sportswear to elaborate costumes. Athletes also have center stage to play up their theme and capture the attention of the judges, photographers and scouts. They should incorporate their theme into their style of walks and turns. The main idea is to have fun with this round! The pictures and memories are definitely worth it!

Tip: Please remember that this is a Model Search competition so you are modeling your personality and the outfits. Athletes are not specifically judged on their outfits, however the clothing choice may leave an impression with the judges and can add to the score. Since it is a physique competition, it is a good idea to select outfits that display your physique properly. Form fitting clothes are ideal &/or those that show more skin.

Muscle Model Divisions:
Experience:
There is a 4-Level Tier System (Novice - Open - Advanced - Pro) for all FAME World Tour competitions. Competitors are encouraged to take a FAME Camp or online course to learn the essentials of competing and to come to the stage better prepared. Visit our Divisions and Advancements page to learn more about climbing through the ranks!

Gender:
This category has divisions for both Males and Females.

Height:
Athletes may also be broken into height depending on the final competitor count and median height of the athletes. This is at the discretion of the promoter, head judge and FAME officials.

Have you thought about fitness modeling? Don't know where to start? How about fashion/underwear modeling, too? Well, take the first step and contact NorCalBodz.

I've been doing photography for five years and founded NorCalBodz Photography and NCB Model Management April of 2008. I have many connections due to my full time job - so fitness is my thing!

Some companies and or photographers charge you a fee. Some companies and or photographers use your images on their site(s) and charge a fee for people to view your images. Results? No gain monetary for you and no results as companies/legitimate individuals won't pay to view your images on their site. Why would you want to have images taken and placed on a pay-per-view site?

I approach this a different way.... I don't get paid unless you get paid! Sounds fair?

-Gary

Hi everyone,

Thanks for being a part of the group.

Emily - Figure is very similar to bodybuilding, with the main differences being that in Figure you wear high heels, all poses must be open handed, certain poses are omitted and the routine also includes strength moves. Other than that it is judged the same. A Figure physique does not have as much mass as a bodybuilder. Please let me know if that helps or if you need additional assistance. :)
