Sending a hello to BodyProud!! Have not been on in a while,,,busy like all!!

I would like to talk about training, working and getting your everyday routine done!!

We all know there should be more hours in our day!! We find ourselves rushing around and if you are like me...trying to get all done to train!! It can be done, we do it everyday. But in the meantime, we neglect what our body needs and thats FEUL and REST!! Without proper nutrition and allowing our body to repair itself, days in the gym are USELESS!! You keep pushing and pushing and what you end up doing is becoming SICK! THATS POOR NUTRITION AND NO REST AND TIME FOR YOUR BODY TO REPAIR!!

I can give pointers, but we all do what we want anyway!! I have learned to do the right thing!! I am a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump. I push and push because this disease will not control me!! ICONTROL IT!! I do it the right way though!! I battle blood sugars, both high and low,,,and having a low will make you feel like a tank ran you over, but I pick up and keep going!! Proper eating and fueling those muscles is important!! Look at it like this,,,

Most of us train to put on size and we do it faithfully!! So why are 80 percent of you killing yourselves banging cardio out and not eatin right?? You need to feed that "Wanting to grow" muscle. If you restrict your cals and carbs #1 you wont allow that muscle to grow, it takes 3500 cals to gain 1 lb of muscle!! If you keep burning up that cardio, yes, you burn fat but you also are eating that muscle away!! Thats what off season is for, TO GROW!!! So if you limit those calories, you are wasting your time and hrs in the gym!! Because of lack of calories and too much cardio, you become fatiged and sick!! UGGGGGGGG!! I dont know bout you, but I dont want to miss my on days at the gym cause Im sick!!

Everybody need a plan, choose your plan wise and do it the right way!! I could go on and on with details, Keep yourself healthy and rest!! As far as diet, dont restrict yourself so much!! The only time you need to be strict is before competition!! Hell, I was eating Reeses cups up until I competed and didint restrict myself to leaving me feel starved!! I still got down to 5% bodyfat!! Not bad for a type 1 diabetic,,,huh??? lolll I did it though and placed 1st overall in figure in Rich Gasparis pro show on CapeCod and 2nd in Masters!! My next show, Im getting my Pro Card!!

Stay Healthy!!

My next show, Im getting my Pro Card!!

You can do it, Rhonda! Go for it! : )
Wow! You have a lot energy! I can feel that in how you write your discussion! Well I'm of the other side of the coin.. I'm already a lot of muscle, I just rather define it and keep it shredded. I lost 45 lbs to compete last october and I'm raring to do it again in April.

Yes.. yes indeed you have to FEED to grow!! My opinion though.. we also need to rest properly!! I came to the conclusion that I wasn't getting enough rest before the contest.. 6 hours is not enough to properly keep yourself fit. It's also a matter of trying to get everything done in the day with the amount of hours there is. (it doesn't always work..) And I still have been steadily increasing the time devoted to my meditational practices. It DOES help in the rest department too! I'll get my group started in the new year.. been practicing for a year now..

There is no doubt that as we age our levels of fatigue increase.
This is a natural part of growing older.
One might say hey "My Mind feels 21", "but orthopedically you are 65 ",
this may be because you are 65 or your injuries from the past have caused changes in your body to actually make it a sore, tired body, back, kees, feet, hands etc, .that orthapedically you have a 65 year olds body!!

You ask what have I done to myself ???
if you were into sports, possibly a team sport involving being bustled about , or hit , whatever.
Even running Marathons over decades will hurt you in the end.
How do we as people get out of a "fatigue cycle"?
Mind, diet, easy exercise, still stay active in learning. Well they all work.
But some of us are so smashed up we ask ourselves how do I drag myself onto the bike or into the car to go to the Gym and keep our body strong and healthy.
It need not be bench presssing 300 pounds or whatever, but any real form of Exercise is the key, the brain chemicals made from doing exercise we like will keep us at it.
We then leave the Gym, or Pool and feel like we have "done something", revitalised ourselves.

I will not go into diet here, but I wish to talk on Fatigue, , next post will be , about what happens when you Super train for Years, as the Olympic athletes have found out, and why so many have Chronic Fatigue Disorder, I have and it is a killer!!
cheers all
Happy New Year
Eat RIGHTok:-}
Rodd indeed when you were in the contest you were cut and in shape,
The value and importance of REST we know, but fatigue is difficult. It is your brain saying "do I have to ", and then bending that saying with willpower. A good diet, sleep and I have found for me ,
A TRAINING PARTNER to push me
Because of Chronic Fatigue which in my case was caused by deliberately depriving myself of sleep for days on end when in the Special Forces, my system got used to staying awake.
Now I do not do anywhere near the type of job or have that energy output on such small ration of food each day ..it has caused a permanent case, added is over training for years, NO sleeping pills will put me out, nothing, no Music or even over training!!! ...SUPER TRAINING, so that at 35 I was actually "burnt out".
I had 2 Hospital stays overnight where they wire you up and monitor you via ifra red camera.
The Test results say I get only about 10% REM sleep...that is being in a situation of being on the cusp of just under being awake.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any sound or whatever wakes my system up!!
Bummer. Trying to kick start the get up when the sun does and go to bed before 11PM to get the sleep cycle back does not work.
I will get the material next from a Report from the OLYMPIC Medical Board on this fatigue and put it up,and it will shock you.
cheers mate
SALLY GO FOR IT :-}

Chriso!! MISS U!

Yes Rhonda... Fatigue is such a necessary nuisance it requires your investigation. CFS has many contributors... some ALL at the same time... some inbetween.
Chronic illness makes fatigue a perfect understudy... cause we need to be sooo close to the cause to NOT allow it to step in too much of the time.

Consider: What could be the source for more this day and less that day? How can I manage stress, pain, nutrition, excersise to keep it at bay?
For many, monitoring and discipline of dietary attacks is key. Quiet mind and personal limitations on the forefront of ANY situation ...Healing first.
This is a key...for some THE Key, for others, one key... that opens the lock.

All play a part in the day and the next day.
Be Well PH! You are all so brilliant!
