Healing Your Physical Self

Healing Your Physical Self

It is possible. It is possible to change your life around, relieve your body of unnecessary pain and even become body proud. Two words: Determination and Commitment.

Take advice from Honnor Moore, a Body Proud Community Member who is actually taking the Body Proud Challenge and set her goal to compete in the upcoming FAME World Tour physique competition.

Honnor advises to:

1. Change Your Mindset

You see, this is all part of Honnor's YOU CAN DO IT mindset and master plan to rehabilitate and regenerate her body. Taking the Body Proud Challenge forces her to regularly go to the gym despite an auto immune condition which makes her very susceptible to joint pain and bone breakage.

"I increase weight. ...damaged joints and fingers get stuck around the bar. I peel them off, sometimes ask a gym mate for some help peeling. I increase reps, my triceps and biceps wanna but wrists crack and grind and painfully make mean, and give way until I drop the dumbell. Grips on the cable bars have the same contradiction, wide grip pull downs...oooo, my lats want it bad... even as my fingers and hands threaten to completely separate from my wrists inside my human suit. I want and need more even while the skeletal structure I am racing to contain is complaining in an obvious and loud threatening crunch".

However, as she states necessity is the mother of all inventions:

"Somewhere in between hope, faith and frustration I understand the tact of negotiation. I have to stop using my grip... my hands. I need to train with larger bones. Tricky... always something. Altered resistance bands, modified grips and ancillary weights and tactful negotiation are my best friends. Hockey tape, duct tape, any tape and funny paddles. Metal plates and taped on tongue depressors, wooden or plastic as well as an array of splints are in my arsenal. My gym bag has never seen so many tools. Nor have my gym comrades".

But in the end, despite not having full use of her hands, Honnor is proud... body proud! "I appreciate the miraculous willpower of our bodies. My muscles are growing...I am so proud of them".

2. Choose Your Foods Wisely

Many illnesses start from within the digestive tract. So become part detective, part scientist and part genius within your own body. Pay attention to the foods you choose to eat. Experiment. Try reducing or eliminating WHEAT, GLUTEN, DAIRY, WHEY, SOY, white SUGAR, PROCESSED FOODS and/or WHITE FLOUR.

Those are often triggers that can cause:
FATIGUE, PAIN, INFLAMMATION, GAS, BLOATING, CONFUSION, DEHYDRATION, HEADACHES, JOINT SWELLING, HOT FLASHES etc.

Substitute with natural whole food options. Sweeten your foods with 100% maple syrup or stevia. Replace wheat with ezekiel or spelt. Enjoy yummy almond milk instead of cow milk or soy. Try vegetarian protein shakes and eliminate whey...

This simple experiment may be exactly what you need to make a huge difference in your everyday life.

For Honnor, she says 'My life depends on it. Literally."

For those who want to take to the FAME stage, there are awards for those who compete with physical challenges.

Hi Brandy , well having a bummer time here,
I got bad bronchitis {for no good reason as it cannot be passed on!]that has lasted 3 months, and is still going. it was caused way back in Army days.
CS Gas/lead and smoke particles used by us on Counter Terrorist training damaged my aesophagus and in the lungs the aveloei and smaller parts that carry O2 through blood.
I am in trouble when I get it
[once turned into pnuemonia]
As no anti-biotic works, only codine mixtures to stop cough, this has wrecked pool and bike work. as a consequence my foot surgery has been postponed Brandy, bummer but that is like :-}
Hope you are well and Honnor I know is very happy at present, Angel glad your foot is ok
take care all
cheers
Chris...sorry been out of the loop but sleep has been important
ciao guys

Last week I had physical pain in my right foot, but I took the proper steps to alleviate the pain. Now my foot is back to normal and that is an example of physical healing taking place. For nearly a week, I felt pain in my right foot whenever I walked or ran. The pain was terrible, so finally I took the proper action to get rid of the pain and that solved the problem. Physical healing is great when it goes to work on your body.

Common sense will tell you that when you are fatigued, you must rest. Listen to your body, because your body is sending you signals. When I feel tired, I take enough time off to allow my body to rest. Your body undergoes physical healing when you rest. As we all know, when you pump iron you are tearing down the muscle fibers and muscles grow larger and stronger only when you are resting. That is why working out seven or six days a week can be counterproductive. I enjoy working out, pushing myself hard, but I make sure I get plenty of rest. Physical healing is good for the mind and body.
