Healing Your Physical Self

Healing Your Physical Self

It is possible. It is possible to change your life around, relieve your body of unnecessary pain and even become body proud. Two words: Determination and Commitment.

Take advice from Honnor Moore, a Body Proud Community Member who is actually taking the Body Proud Challenge and set her goal to compete in the upcoming FAME World Tour physique competition.

Honnor advises to:

1. Change Your Mindset

You see, this is all part of Honnor's YOU CAN DO IT mindset and master plan to rehabilitate and regenerate her body. Taking the Body Proud Challenge forces her to regularly go to the gym despite an auto immune condition which makes her very susceptible to joint pain and bone breakage.

"I increase weight. ...damaged joints and fingers get stuck around the bar. I peel them off, sometimes ask a gym mate for some help peeling. I increase reps, my triceps and biceps wanna but wrists crack and grind and painfully make mean, and give way until I drop the dumbell. Grips on the cable bars have the same contradiction, wide grip pull downs...oooo, my lats want it bad... even as my fingers and hands threaten to completely separate from my wrists inside my human suit. I want and need more even while the skeletal structure I am racing to contain is complaining in an obvious and loud threatening crunch".

However, as she states necessity is the mother of all inventions:

"Somewhere in between hope, faith and frustration I understand the tact of negotiation. I have to stop using my grip... my hands. I need to train with larger bones. Tricky... always something. Altered resistance bands, modified grips and ancillary weights and tactful negotiation are my best friends. Hockey tape, duct tape, any tape and funny paddles. Metal plates and taped on tongue depressors, wooden or plastic as well as an array of splints are in my arsenal. My gym bag has never seen so many tools. Nor have my gym comrades".

But in the end, despite not having full use of her hands, Honnor is proud... body proud! "I appreciate the miraculous willpower of our bodies. My muscles are growing...I am so proud of them".

2. Choose Your Foods Wisely

Many illnesses start from within the digestive tract. So become part detective, part scientist and part genius within your own body. Pay attention to the foods you choose to eat. Experiment. Try reducing or eliminating WHEAT, GLUTEN, DAIRY, WHEY, SOY, white SUGAR, PROCESSED FOODS and/or WHITE FLOUR.

Those are often triggers that can cause:
FATIGUE, PAIN, INFLAMMATION, GAS, BLOATING, CONFUSION, DEHYDRATION, HEADACHES, JOINT SWELLING, HOT FLASHES etc.

Substitute with natural whole food options. Sweeten your foods with 100% maple syrup or stevia. Replace wheat with ezekiel or spelt. Enjoy yummy almond milk instead of cow milk or soy. Try vegetarian protein shakes and eliminate whey...

This simple experiment may be exactly what you need to make a huge difference in your everyday life.

For Honnor, she says 'My life depends on it. Literally."

For those who want to take to the FAME stage, there are awards for those who compete with physical challenges.

I injured my left knee more than two years ago when I was doing a heavy squat workout. I had the bar loaded with 425 pounds and I was on my final set. I had done three repititions and I felt a sharp pain in my knee. I ignored the pain and decided to continue lifting. On the fourth repitition, the pain in my left knee increased to the point where it was unbearable and my left knee went out form under me. I managed to place the barbell back on the squat rack and I was not able to do anymore heavy squats after that for six months. I decreased the weight to 315 pounds and did 10 reps with that for seven sets. It took six months for my knee to heal and I was glad that I recovered......physical healing is amazing.

I have sustained several injuries and illnesses over the past two years, but my body has recoverd well thanks to the power of physical healing. When you are in excellent health, your body heals well and usually much faster than someone who is in poor health. Thanks to physical healing, we can return to what we enjoy doing.

When I was ill with the flu for two weeks, my body recovered in record time. Thanks to my superb immune system, the power of physical healing worked its magic in just 14 days. During that time I worked out, but it was difficult. I lost bodyweight, even though I was eating three large meals each day. I was taking in plenty of calories, but the illness caused me to lose size, and strength. I am now in the process of regaining what I lost during my illness.......the power of physical healing works wonders.

The human immune system is a wonderful thing. Physical healing involves the immune system when you have the common flu. I was ill with the flu for two weeks and I drank lots of water and took cold medicine day and night. I knew that my immune system would eventually overcome the effects of the flu. Thank God for physical healing.

After two weeks, my body has finally overcome the effects of the flu. Yesterday was the first day that I did not have a runny nose, chest congestion, cough, and a fever. I am fully healed and thanks to the power of physical healing, I was able to overcome the flu in a record time of just two weeks.......the human body is amazing.

Sometimes physical healing does not happen overnight. In the case of the flu, it may takes several weeks for your body to recover from the effects of the flu. I have the flu and my fever lasted only one day, but my chest congestion and runny nose continue. I am taking cold medicine and drinking plenty of water. Right now, it is late and I have to get to the gym to work my legs. Have a nice day.

Physical healing helped me to recover when I injured my left wrist one year ago. I was doing heavy bench presses one day and on the final repitition, I felt a sharp pain in my left wrist. It took almost one week for my injury to heal and during that time I had to lift lighter weights.

I have decided to take an extra day off so I can recover from the flu. I was going to pump iron today, but I decide to delay the workout until Tuesday. My body has done an amazing job at fighting and overcoming the flu virus that has invaded my body. The power of physical healing has allowed me to overcome every illness I have encountered during my lifetime.

Thanks to the process of physical healing, I should overcome my flu by Monday morning. The flu began on Thursday and I have had a runny nose, chest congestion, stiff joints and muscles, and a fever. I am taking cold medicine and drinking lots of fluids to flush out the flu virus. I will be successful with this approach and I will back in the gym on Monday afternoon.

Last month I had a blister on my left hand and now I have one on my right hand. The blister is very painful and I had to remove the riding gloves I wear and applied Vaseline skin cream. I woke up this morning and the pain was not as severe as it was last night. The blister on my right hand should be fully healed by Wednesday morning.....thanks to the power of physical healing, I can return to normal in just a few days.
