Healing Your Physical Self

Healing Your Physical Self

It is possible. It is possible to change your life around, relieve your body of unnecessary pain and even become body proud. Two words: Determination and Commitment.

Take advice from Honnor Moore, a Body Proud Community Member who is actually taking the Body Proud Challenge and set her goal to compete in the upcoming FAME World Tour physique competition.

Honnor advises to:

1. Change Your Mindset

You see, this is all part of Honnor's YOU CAN DO IT mindset and master plan to rehabilitate and regenerate her body. Taking the Body Proud Challenge forces her to regularly go to the gym despite an auto immune condition which makes her very susceptible to joint pain and bone breakage.

"I increase weight. ...damaged joints and fingers get stuck around the bar. I peel them off, sometimes ask a gym mate for some help peeling. I increase reps, my triceps and biceps wanna but wrists crack and grind and painfully make mean, and give way until I drop the dumbell. Grips on the cable bars have the same contradiction, wide grip pull downs...oooo, my lats want it bad... even as my fingers and hands threaten to completely separate from my wrists inside my human suit. I want and need more even while the skeletal structure I am racing to contain is complaining in an obvious and loud threatening crunch".

However, as she states necessity is the mother of all inventions:

"Somewhere in between hope, faith and frustration I understand the tact of negotiation. I have to stop using my grip... my hands. I need to train with larger bones. Tricky... always something. Altered resistance bands, modified grips and ancillary weights and tactful negotiation are my best friends. Hockey tape, duct tape, any tape and funny paddles. Metal plates and taped on tongue depressors, wooden or plastic as well as an array of splints are in my arsenal. My gym bag has never seen so many tools. Nor have my gym comrades".

But in the end, despite not having full use of her hands, Honnor is proud... body proud! "I appreciate the miraculous willpower of our bodies. My muscles are growing...I am so proud of them".

2. Choose Your Foods Wisely

Many illnesses start from within the digestive tract. So become part detective, part scientist and part genius within your own body. Pay attention to the foods you choose to eat. Experiment. Try reducing or eliminating WHEAT, GLUTEN, DAIRY, WHEY, SOY, white SUGAR, PROCESSED FOODS and/or WHITE FLOUR.

Those are often triggers that can cause:
FATIGUE, PAIN, INFLAMMATION, GAS, BLOATING, CONFUSION, DEHYDRATION, HEADACHES, JOINT SWELLING, HOT FLASHES etc.

Substitute with natural whole food options. Sweeten your foods with 100% maple syrup or stevia. Replace wheat with ezekiel or spelt. Enjoy yummy almond milk instead of cow milk or soy. Try vegetarian protein shakes and eliminate whey...

This simple experiment may be exactly what you need to make a huge difference in your everyday life.

For Honnor, she says 'My life depends on it. Literally."

For those who want to take to the FAME stage, there are awards for those who compete with physical challenges.

A few nights ago, I was at a Walgreens pushing a shopping cart in the store. I had just finished paying for some items and I was returning the shopping cart. As I pushed the shopping cart into a row of carts, my finger was smashed. The pain I felt in my finger was almost unbearable. I nearly jumped when I felt the pain. My nail is now bruised and it may fall off over the next few weeks. The pain has diminished and the process of physical healing has started. I should be back to normal in a few weeks.

I had a chronic pain behind my left knee that lasted for several weeks. I adjusted my training to allow my knee to heal and eventually my strategy worked. Physical healing has worked its majic on me and now I am back to normal.

The pain in my left knee is gone. It took the power of physical healing nearly one month to heal the pain behind my left knee. I aways knew that if I played my cards right, eventually the knee would heal. The power of physical healing is awesome.

I came down with the flu last night. I have been taking cold medicine and I hope to recover by tomorrow. The process of physical healing will heal my body and have me back in the gym by Monday......have a nice day.

I have a pain in the back of my left knee. With plenty of rest and exercise, the pain will eventually go away. That is the process of physical healing taking effect on my body.

I recently injured my left leg. I had an acute pain in my hamstring and the pain lasted for several weeks. Thanks to the power of physical healing, my left leg has healed and I am now back to normal.

in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf

That's excellent Chris! I know it seems like small steps sometimes, but you are well on your way to better health... and being bionic:) Your independance (driving, walking, etc) will come in time, enjoy every little step (pun intended). Keep up the great work as you are an inspiration to me personnally.

Honnor, any updates? How have things been after your surgery?

I have restarted training, but still going easy as I am still on blood thinners (saps my wind - thinner blood, lower oxygen carrying capability). No new progress to report at this time, but will be closely monitoring it over the coming months. I learned a number of new "tricks" for doing rehab on my hip flexors and have been using them regularily.

Happy New Year to all and may the new year bring all you could wish for!!

Hello Honnor /Brent and all.

I HAVE STARTED RE_HAB, yes in the pool, the feeling was magic, no pain {well that was later}, water is just so good. I hope to do some minutes on the Bike soon as well. The Specialist is Happy the Physio's are happy...I AM HAPPY. so get muscle mass and as much movement back as I can , then maybe in late March 2011, they can try me in my car {pedal angle for accelerator may have to be change though}...never know how much I missed the Independence of driving or riding or even WALKING

New Orthotics, new shoes being made with "roller" soles , so that I can go> heel--roll--and off the toes

Happy that my Art work, Reading, good movies and my wonderful dogs kept me from worrying too much about pain [that bugger is there still ]

But now I get a high just slipping into the pool.

I need to build back 2-1/2 inches on the calf  if I ever can, we shall see.

But I have a shoulder Op set for March 2011 and hope re-hab from that will be short. .....I have plans to go to  Europe on my last Grand Tour in early 2012 now ..............before the 2 new knees are put in and the second ankle fusion on the left foot.

 But that is a 1000 years away now so I am not worried. I will be BIONIC hahaha :-}

Cheers and my Best to all of you for the NEW YEAR..without pain and the associated complications

BE well, stay safe my friends all over the World
