FITNESS HAS 2 ROUNDS OF COMPETITION

The order of performance on stage may vary from show to show. Be prepared for that. Competitors may or may not be asked to perform their routine twice, depending on show size and show format.

1. Routine Round: * 2 minutes with professionally recorded music. The outfit selection is your choice.
*Mandatory - At least 2 displays of both flexibility & strength (each held for 3-5 seconds); high energy to display endurance ability; entertainment & creativity.
*Judging- Routine should display strength, flexibility, endurance, and originality, and will be judged on execution of moves, degree of difficulty, balance, use of stage, creativity, and overall performance.

* Tips - Only incorporate movements that appear effortless; Ensure choreography is fluid; More complex moves will score better points only if they are performed with ease; Use entire stage; Audience connection is important; Show your personality; Flips are allowed but are not mandatory; Have fun!

2. Symmetry Round

* Outfit: Competition Bikini & High Heels (clear is ideal)
* Judging - based on physique (symmetry, posture, stance); personality & individuality; stage presence & confidence; style of walk-out & turns; overall appearance; posing suit suitability.

* Physique - athletes should be lean, toned & fit (should have some abdominal development). There is not one specific look that excels in this category, rather it's how your present yourself and the amount of muscle & tone that suits your frame and skeletal structure. ***This is very similar to the Fitness Model type of physique

* Tips - appear relaxed yet poised on stage!

FITNESS DIVISIONS
You may compete in as many divisions as you fit. All divisions are further separated into female classes.

Experience: There is a 4-Level Tier System (Novice - Open - Advanced - Pro) for all FAME World Tour competitions. First time competitors are encouraged to take a FAME Camp to learn the essentials of competing and to come to the stage as prepared as possible. Seasoned athletes can compete in the Open Class rather than in the Novice with newcomers. Should anyone wish to compete in the Advanced and Pro class, yet have no prior experience with FAME are eligible to audition at FAME Idol events, submit an official request (see details) to the Judging Panel or get Initiated by FAME Pros & WNSO Officials.

Age:
Athletes of all ages are welcome to compete in the experience class. Some contests will have a Junior Class (18 years & under) which only includes the Routine component.

Singles or Pairs:
Fitness athletes can pair with another fitness athlete, a figure competitor, bodybuilder or even a friend or family member who does not compete in any other division. You have the option of only performing a routine (Fittest Duo) or just a model category with themewear (Toned Twosome).

Hari Om Yoga Comment by Hari Om Yoga on January 18, 2009 at 8:59pm
With direct reference to Competitive Fitness persons of all disciplines, who train to a large extent year round for their discipline that requires a fairly high level of physical intensity, no matter what age we are; to counter balance this physical intense activity, rather than a Yoga Practice like Hot Yoga, a counter balance of a more gentle Yoga practice should be sought out by the Competitive Fitness person. We established Hari Om Yoga Langley / Surrey as a multi classed studio working from the philosophy that the Body and Mind change regularly (for some of us this can occur within the course of a day), meaning that a Yoga Practice (we call it a ‘practice’) can change as well and to best fit our body and mind, the ‘practice’ may need to change periodically.
At Hari Om Yoga Langley / Surrey while we do offer Hot and Power Yoga (more physically intensive) we provide a great deal more of Class variety which includes Yin / Yang (35 min intensive with 55 min relaxive), Luna Yoga (Hips and Pelvis oriented - particuarly great for opening those areas), Hatha Yoga (gentle based allround), Yin Yoga (deeper stretching predomimnately on the floor great for tightness in the lower back - another area of concern), Restorative (relaxive with Yoga props doing much of the work for you) , Gentle Yoga (a gentle flow based class) and Anusara Inspired Yoga (all about alignment)
