Hi Anne-Marie, thank you for your comment.

Figure, formally known as Figure "Physique" with FAME, is for physiques that are more muscular than Swimsuit Models or Fitness Models, but less muscular than Bodybuilders.  The judging panel wants to see V Taper with shoulder and lat development with symmetrical lower body development.  Figure competitors should display significant conditioning, which should include visible abdominal definition, but Figure competitors should not display cross striation in the quads or striated glutes. Figure competitors should also not display the thickness in the abs or sweep in the quads expected of bodybuilders. Think streamlined V taper with excellent conditioning. I looked at your pictures and your physique should do very well in Figure, and could also do well in Muscle Model. Note, in FAME - "Figure" involves judging in only the quarter turn positions with no routine.  "Figure Posing and Routine" involves physique judging in the quarter turns, and judging in the mandatory open handed bodybuilding style poses.  Figure Posing and Routine also includes a 90 second routine round.  For more information about all the competition categories available with FAME, please visit http://www.FAMEWorldTour.com

Eager to see what the judges criteria for Figure Physique falls into with their first year of the division. I have been told I would do better in this division than figure since I am slightly more muscular. At my last show I was told I was too muscular up top and that the judges did not like to see any six pack/oblique and hip flexor definition. I personaly think figure is falling a little bit to soft.

Some of the most beautiful women in the world are people who train with weights. These women have well developed chests, arms, backs, and legs, but are not musclebound. Three excellent examples are Anja Langer, Rachel McLish, and Cory Everson who have bodies that are the envy of the world. These women have enhanced their physiques through weight training, but they have maintained their female traits. They are not musclebound freaks with large muscles and veins covering every square inch of their bodies. A woman who lifts weights should never lose sight that she is a woman first and foremost, and should not attempt to look like a man. What I find so disgusting is a woman who is musclebound and has lost her beauty as a result. I admire Rachel, Cory, and Anja because they were able to achieve the right combination with muscle and beauty. Before I end this email, I would like to say Merry Christmas and Happy New to all the members of BodyProud.org.
