Hi, I've never heard this term before. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks!

This isn't the full answer, but bodybuilders and fitness people coin "clean diet" as omitting unhealthy fats (no pizza, hotdogs, etc.), chemicals, or sugars (cakes, donuts, sundays, unhealthy desserts). If you can imagine eating this way, you'll indeed see and feel it as a clean diet. Bodybuilders look for good energy and building foods. However, even the strictest dieters allow themselves a day off and being human enjoying favorite foods. This is planned on and limited so it doesn't upset the overall diet plan--when a contest is completely over or a photoshoot finished, or just an "allowed eating" day..

Thank you for asking this question, since for me, answering it gave me some insights that I've never seen before! There will be more technical answers coming,
"Clean Food" is energy efficent and balenced foods, such as chicken, lean beef, fiborous greens ect. The less additives and saturated fats in your foods the easy it is for your body to proccess them. Clean foods are lean foods.
Alan and Minoty, Thanks for the explanation. Sorry about all the questions, but I have more!

So it really has to do with fat and not chemicals? Would you consider organic foods more clean than food that is not organically grown? Would raw food be considered more clean than cooked? What about the manner something is cooked, such as fried or broiled? Sorry to be so ignorant! Christiane
Christine, I'm not an expert, but I think all your questions are answered "yes." It's not so much the food itself but its efficiency in the body. You're helping other people to learn (me) by asking questions.
Thanks Alan!
Hey Christiane, no worries about quistions. Thats why were all here to learn from one another. Generally speaking your most clean foods are lean in nature (non fatty cuts of meats and such). Preperation does play a role, Fried is bad. High in saturated fat! Not all Fats are bad though, you have monosaturated and polysaturated fats. Fish, and nuts are an example, these type of fats actully help promote wieght loss (in moderation)! Oraganic food is good but the industry is starting to take advantage of the word "organic", Dont always believe the advertisment. Pay attention to labels and attempt to boil, broil, and steam, my best advice on keeping it clean. Hope this helps.
One of my favorite clean eating blogs is this http://www.thegraciouspantry.com/

I hope that helps you out.
Outstanding site, thanks for the info!
Beki, Thanks for the website! I'll check it out! Christiane
It looks like you're staying with it, Christine!
