I find my personal Body Proud goals keep changing. At first I wanted to sculpt my most perfect physique and be lean and toned like a fitness model. I focused a lot on the science behind the diet and being very strict on my meal timing etc, just like many athletes. Reaching that goal was very exciting for me and also made me recognize the value behind food. It made me think about the health aspects of everything that I was feeding my body. From that point on I decided to modify my body proud goals and instead of being as strict with timing and portion size, I now follow a balanced diet consisting of nutritious, whole, and organic foods whenever possible and at each meal. I have never been a big fan of eating meat, yet do for the nutritional value. However, I am very interested in learning more about different lifestyle diets (eg. vegetarian, raw, vegan, caveman, blood type etc) to determine what makes the most sense for me.
Aside from diet, my other Body Proud goals are to become as flexible as possible and always ensure my posture is correct. Already I have noticed a huge difference since doing yoga and the P90X program. I love the feeling of being able to move comfortably into various positions that were once outside my comfort zone.
Being an international level judge for multiple FAME World Tour physique competitions has made me recognize how much I value proper posture. Plus, knowing that that is the basis for yoga and how the body should be aligned to protect its organs and stay injury-and-pain-free makes it even more important for me. In fact, since making "proper posture" a Body Proud goal of mine, I now rely on yoga and stretching to correct the vertebra alignment issues instead of an osteopath.
On a more personal level, my Body Proud goals are to feel even more comfortable speaking in front of large audience, developing my spiritual self, and remaining positive and pro-active in all situations.
Finally, I hope that whoever reads this posts and/or visits the Body Proud Community and/or hears the words "Body Proud" becomes inspired to set -and reach - their own personal Body Proud Goals.
Whew, that was a mouthful - and - "Welcome to my Brain!" lol
( I'm even more motivated now just by writing this!). :-)))
To me being body proud means being healthy. It also means being able to looking the mirror without cringing and being able to find cloths that fit with out having to go to the mall or pay extra. It means completing the long part of the MSWalk with out my hip hurting. Not having muscle spasms and not having to force myself to exersize, actually getting into it too. Being confident in myself and my bodies abilities.
