Michael Jackson's memorial service is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles, California sometime next week. There is one problem. The city of Los Angeles and the state of California are bankrupt. The state has a 42 billion dollar budget defict and as a result tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs, mostly state employees.
I feel that the city and perhaps even the state should find some way to pay for the memorial service. Michael has earned the right to be honored in a way that is appropriate for his social status. This is a once in a lifetime event and no expense should be spared.
Long live Michael. He is now more popular in death than he was in life.
