What you said is so true!!! I can not stress how important it is to attain mastery of ones body but even more challenging attaining mastery of ones mind and conscious thoughts. Too many of us allow negative agents to program our minds into think we're not good enough or that we dont matter or even worse yet being programed not only to have self hatred for ones self but to have it for others for whatever reason. So many of us walk around with low self esteem thinking that we are not worthy of great things or some of us live in fear of actually living our lives to the fullest.

Bottom line is what you think or how you think of yourself is what you will become, and the great thing about that is we all can change our mental programing and create a POWERFUL winning mindset and live and achieve what we want and whatever we want! Dare to dream and dream big !

This has been true for me for a long time - I have to keep reminding myself that I am WORTH the pain, sweat, and yes, sometimes tears that this process requires. It's not so much that the workouts and diet are difficult, I seem to falter more so when I forget that I am worth all the effort!
Hi Rosa the battle of the body pails in comparison to the battle of the mind, even when we reach that point in the gym when we feel we cant go any further , that we cant do another rep or we cant take another step OUR MINDS give up and surrender way before our body is ready to. To conquer our thoughts is a never ending challenge but it is such a worth while journey to undertake! thank you so much for the reply!

Great discussion Chris, Mindy and Rosa! I love it :-) The interesting thing is most people can only focus on something for 6 seconds! So, there is a lot going on in mind of people, i.e. self-talk, imagination, etc. And here's something VERY interesting between will-power and imagination...imagination wins out! Most people are not aware of what they are "thinking" so when a person say's "I want to go to the gym because ____(fill in the blank)" but does not go, it is because the image that the person was holding that kept them from going. In my study of human development it is fascinating how little time we give to what we are thinking....let's keep this discussion going :-)!

Hi everyone , I am new to all this and hope I can get back in to read the posts, I am A 42 year old mom of 5 teen boys happily married and all are encouraging me to lose this 75 lbs I have struggled with for years just as others do so I am hoping for some inspiration from you who have conquered it. I live in upstated NY the cold part of the country lol, I would love to get to the point of being able to be in a competion,however I defeat my own self daily with all the other things in life that pop up I own my own salon cart kids to tournamanets take care of the house and cook can so be a destratction time mangement is not my friend, any starting suggestions friends.

My suggestion would be to make the decision to say 'I AM BODY PROUD'.. Think about what that means to you and what is most important. Visualize your most ideal Body Proud physique that you wish to attain. Having that mind-muscle connection helps as well. The overall motivation can help a lot in allowing you to schedule in training times. Overall though you must ensure you are eating a more healthy diet. This site will also help! Enjoy the process!

WOW you guys all seem to have the knowledge and dedication, Im sure you were all where I am at one piont in life . I am ready to make the change in fact today I rescheduled all my appt around my first Yoga class and my 2 weight watchers so there is the start. I am so proud as I always squeeze all the people who have last minute hair needs in and today I put myself first. Thanks I most definately will be on this more what inspiration you all are Thanks so very much GOd BLess
