I just wanted to drop in some notes about FAME Pro Malachi Smith's sojourn to the Motherland of Africa.  He represented all of us as our *first* FAME Pro Ambassador to East Africa.  Malachi -- your Body Proud tribe is proud of you!  ;-))

Malachi called me on both ends of his trip.  On the front end, it was from Nairobi International Airport, to say he'd arrived safely and was with Kalyango Zubael

Kalyango is the intrepid FAME World Tour Event Producer whose vision united 10 African COUNTRIES under FAME's peaceful cooperative competition model.  Kalyango embodies what is great about FAME's credo "Uniting the World Through Fitness"

One of the first things Malachi said, when he called from a cyber cafe in Kenya, on the backend, was that he was being treated “like a king”.

During his stay, Malachi was stationed at the upscale Klique Hotel.  The service there was FAMEtastic!  Everything he needed and wanted, Kalyango and his crew went out of their way to get for him.

In fact, Malachi’s attendance and picture were a huge part of why there were 1,000 attendees.  Some people walked for days to attend the event and to see the North American star!

Malachi handled the inspiration and networking portions of his FAME Pro Ambassador duties beautifully!  He spoke, did posings, and held interviews at the media junkets.

It even included “Rock Star” duties that ranged from signing autographs for students at the upscale East Indian school to signing “Stay Beautiful and Body Proud!” on a t-shirt he gave to a street orphan.  (Orphanages are one of the only places for street kids to get clothing, so this was a HUGE deal to this young girl.)  Malachi heard from people that they were “honoured” that he came to visit.

There was a lot of destitution in Kenya.  Sometimes the street children literally have to sleep in the middle of the roads.

Yet, for all the crime and hardship in the cities, there’s also a sense of being driven to succeed.  “Failure is not an option” takes on new meaning in the impoverished contexts Malachi witnessed.  It boiled down to EVERYONE doing whatever was necessary to raise themselves up in life.  Malachi was as inspired by Kenya and it’s people as they were by him!

In celebration of Malachi’s triumphant kickoff of Body Proud’s MMADE program, the FAME Pro Ambassadorship, AND African American month here in the USA, we’ll be featuring more of Malachi’s tales of Kenya and the Nationals.  And keep in mind that it's going to be FAMEtastic to see him, LIVE and in-person, competing at other FAME World Tour events -- maybe even in a Pro Showdown in Vegas! So stay tuned for updates on Malachi's triumphs on the other side of the world and FAME World Tour competitions worldwide!
