Without blood glucose from carb intake, Insulin in the blood cannot be present to open the muscle tissue receptor sites allowing amino acids into the fibers for growth and repair. To say the very least, complement your 100% protein supplement product with at least 50 to 100 grams of quality carbs in order to allow for the muscle uptake of the protein suplement.
I usually combine whey protein (50g) with dextrose (50g) to make a sweet tasting chocolate milk style beverage that spikes my insulin. Others tend to say your PW shake should contain higher carbs than protein but I like the taste of this balance. What's almost equally as important is taking in a complete meal 1-1.5hrs after your workout with protein, re-slowing the carbs, and a little fat so your body has the supplies on hand to start the repair process your workout (hopefully) triggered.
